very wierd.....
very wierd.....
Ok so im on my way home from class. Its raining but its really light. so im sitting at a light about a mile from my house, jammin to some music. all of a sudden my car stalls out. I wasnt in gear. so i started it back up again, and my idol is going crazy. when i started it it reved to 2 grand then down to like 500, then to 1500 then to like 1000 then it stalled out. I wasnt in gear. I started it again and the idol started goin insain again, i was giving it a alittle gas just to keep it from stalling. so the light turns green and im in the middle of the road, and my idol is still going crazy up and down up, stall. Up and down, then up again stall. So i managed to get it into a parking lot. and it stalled out again. so i let it sit for about 2 minutes then started it back up again and the idol went crazy from abit again then finally equaled out and i got home alright. It scared the **** out of me. ive never seen anything like that before. some water maybe, or dirt. anyone know
My car does that occasionally in the rain too.. actually did it twice this morning.. I think it has something to do with moisture getting on the MAF... but I'm gonna go through my tuning tomorrow and see if I can figure it out... but it only will do it occasionally in the rain... (misty rain is the worst)
the CAI did it. i had this problem happen to my eclipse except a bit worse. your car sucked up a little bit of water. remove your plugs when it gets nice and dry out let the water evaporate out. Here is the senerio that happened to my.
It was raining nice and hard and i was at a stop light. car all of a sudden stalled (this is an auto so thats kinda hard to do) tried to start it again but wouldnt. pushed it into a parking lot in really hard rain(that sucked) try and start it again check my fuel pump its turning on. so wait till the next day when its nice and hot. pulled all my plugs out. waited about an hour or so with a nice hot lamp shining light into the cyclinders to help with the process. after that we started it up again but it was running really really rough. so we let it idle for a bit and then it smoothed itself out again. after that the eclipse was never the same when ever i started the car up and put my foot on the gas to back out the car would rev backwards before it would go up (meaning when i put my foot on the gas instead of it reving to 2k it went down to 100 rpms from 1k) and then back up. it wouldnt work right until the car was nice and warm to do it. thats when it traded my car in for the balt. if i were you and if you still have your warranty i would put the stock intake back on and take it to the dealer if you dont have your stock intake see if anyone in your area does and ask them to borrow it so you can take it to the dealer. that way when they see it hopefully they wont pay the rest any mind..........
thats the only thing i can think of you would be suprised what a light mist can do to an after market intake it just sits there and adds to the filter and eventually it can actually do some other stuff......
i would also wait for another response cause im only going off my own problem that i had.
