shouldn't unless the shop has hptuners or a tune software to check it. the tech 2 scanners that they have don't detect that sorta stuff. but a good tech will know if it is or not.

GM can detect any type of tuning with a tech2 , all they have to do is pull a snapshot and check the calibration file numbers in your history. Gm released a service bulletin not long ago on how to detect aftermarket calibrations . The diesel guys can be thanked for this, GM started by pulling diesel tunes and checking them , now they are doing cars aswell.

they have to be able to prove that the modification, be it hardware or software, caused the damage in question. an example would be a custom tune causing a suspention problem. airbag is a little trickey, but being for airbag they scan the airbag side of things (not powertrain) and its a different system, shouldnt be a problem.
