WHAT the hell is going on?
WHAT the hell is going on?
Ok it started about a couple hours ago I noticed when I hit my brakes a loud click from the shifter (its an automatic) and I'm thinking its the gear shift lock out. Ok no biggie call the dealer and set it up to go in monday. Then I notice the doors no longer lock and unlock when I put the car in and out of gear, ok probly related to the lock out. Next up, remote start is dead! WTF! Still related? Mmmmm, maybe cause the lights still flash like the cars trying to start but it doesn't. Now heres the kicker! Its shifting like its got a shift kit in the tranny! The 1 - 2 shift is HARD! 3 - 4 veeery firm, now I'm starting to wonder WTF is up and I find another issue! Shift from reverse to drive and WHAM! its banging hard too! Now I'm gonna have the dealer fix it seeing how the cars only 7 freaking months old but I'm wondering if all thsi is related to the lock out crapping out?
Anyone have any ideas?

i just noticed the same thing today while driving, i accidentally hit my shifter and it moved into N from D. Now i can shift without holding the clicker thing in.........i dont think thats good
If your still under warenty then I'd say get it fixed. The bigger issue is if you can bump it from drive into reverse while your doing 65! That would be BAD!
i had the same problem. ie (shifting like it had a shift kit). also there was a clicking sound everytime i would press on the brake peddle. not sure what the dealership fixed but they had the transmission out of it one day. warranty covered this fix, only problem is they had my car for 3 weeks (waiting for parts).

uhhh every auto ive ever driven has gone from N to D and back again without depressing the button....
In fact, just about every auto can do the following;
From P, it can't move without releasing the lock.
From R, it can slide down to N and D without locking.
From N, it can slide down to D without locking.
From D, it can slide up to N
From any lower gear selection, it can slide up to D without locking, but not down.

Ok heres the deal, irst off car is now fixed but I have a warning for all automatic owners! As if the shifter crapping out and locking the key in the ignition isn't bad enough it seems that the ultra close tolerences in our shifter means that if ANYTHING gets in it (like say some spilt soda) it will cause the lock out solinoid to go bad. And it doesn't take much either! I had soda get in there one time, ONCE! about 3 weeks after I bought it and it caused the solinoid to have to work extra hard being it had sugar caked up inside it. It was covered under warrenty cause the dealer said there's no real way to proove the soda did it but they have a good idea it was the cause.
So do not spill anything inside your shifters!
BTW everything wrong with my car was because the BCM didn't kknow the car was in gear! Crazy huh?

I could be wrong here, but I had the same thing happen with one of my numerous rx7's. What happened is that there was a small pressure hose that came off the tranny. It didnt leak fluid or anything, but I put the small hose back on and I had smooth shifting and all.
My car allows me to shift from N to D and back again without holding the button in, but I cant shift to any other gears without the button and the brake applied.
