what is the normal temp for a 2.2 ecotec

i have a 06 cobalt and i find the cooling fan does not come on till the temp is around 110 celsius . i have changed the CTS sensor and the coolant is full.

can the pcm be set to turn the fan on sooner?

or is this a normal operating temp?

i don't know what theat means in celcius, but if it's under 230 fahrenheit you're fine.

we get these posts ALL the time from people that buy the car. the cars cooling is based on movement, and when sitting in traffic, or a drive through, it's normal for the temp to go way up pretty quick. should go back down once you start moving again though. in normal driving, it will probably linger somewhere around 190 or so.

if it touches up around 230 in heavy traffic or when idleing for a long time, i wouldn't be too concerned as long as it goes back down after you start moving. if it's getting to that temp on the highway while cruising at 60, you have a problem.

110 is normal for the fan to come on. I wouldn't be concerned. My car runs around the high 80s, but with winter, the car is idling a little faster to help keep the engine warm, so it's sitting around 91, 92c. If you are really that concerned about it, go see your dealer about it.
