Angry WOW what a situation

Ok so I will give you a bit of history on my car first.. I have been having some bad issues with my door latches.. they failed on both sides of my doors and I am currently going at it with GM right now to make them fix it.. They finally agreed to reduce the price and I am getting it done next week.. Basically there is a little plastic part in the door that operates the latch or something like that and it is messed up and on occasion (more often then not it seems) the door handle will not operate to open the door... The only solution to this problem is getting new latches at 180 a pop for each door.. Or hitting the door and leaving a nasty dent in the side. I have been using option 2 for the last two weeks...

So yea tonight (about 30 minutes ago). I went to the store.. get out of the store, jump in the car. try to start it.. NOTHING... the starter wouldn't even turn over.. So I knew right away the battery.. in the trunk... lost connection.. So i try to get out of the car and perform the checks to see what is happening... and to my surprise the door latches decide to **** up now....

So let me break this down for yea... I'm in a car with electric windows.... Door handles are deemed useless at this point... and our back seats open from inside the trunk.... and the car won't start!! GREAT... So yea I couldn't roll down the window and climb out.. I couldn't reach the trunk latches through the back seat crack.. I couldn't hit the outside of the door to fix the latch... Can't start the car.. So i was basically SCREWED.... So then i got to thinking... **** GM... so i started wailing on the car..... and WAMMO!!! Alarm started going off.. beeping noises could be heard... So as fast as i could i started the car.. rolled down the window and wacked the car.... got out and found the battery terminal had came loose in the trunk and I'm assuming me freakin in the car wiggled it enough to make contact!

Lucky and un-lucky at the same time...

Thought I would share this with you guys...

The door handles on GM cars suck. Quickest way to get them unfrozen is to roll down the window, then rapidly pull and release the exterior handle until it frees up, but that doesn't work if you have bad power windows.

Man I'm starting to feel like I have a horseshoe up my ass for not having this happen to me yet. On occasion I open my door and look at the cheap ass plastic part in it as I'm pulling the handle and think "what a piece of garbage, its gonna break on me one day" mostly joking to myself hoping it doesn't happen, but now with this I realize that might be a possibility...

Seems to me like we needa find some sort of aftermarket replacement latches for these cars. But where and how..??

I said I rolled the window down? Usually when this happens (when the battery is connected) I roll the window down and punch my door.... But on this occasion i couldnt'... so i was stranded in the car... Hence the story

Anyways, GM body shop guys told me the same issues happen on most GM trucks.. and the latch in the trunk is from the cavy and they fail too.. GM knows they use **** parts...

Anyways... I posted this so some of you could get a laugh...

If your locked in the car... you can hit REALLY hard on the inside of the door level with the bottom of the handle outside... if your outside hit under the handle... may leave a dent but works 100% of the time... Now i have a dent big enough that i don't have to hit hard cause the door is caved in..

I will take some pics =P

My battery has wiggled loose before too. But i have a cf trunk with no key hole. lol

Ive had to reach from the back seats around my subs and pull the emergency latch in the trunk. What a ******* nightmare, my subs take the majority of the trunk up.

Luckily the back seats were already down or I would have been fucked.

Never thought of that but if I was in that situation I'm sure my adrenaline would be pumping fast enough for me to punch a hole thru metal lol
