-Well to be honest I called the highway safety board and made a complaint because of exactly that.. They told me that a recall could be made if enough owners call and make complaints about it. Just like the power steering.. But I can't see them ever recalling it unless they are using the same latches in the newer models... BUT worth a try..

So to all the people having the same issue.. IT IS SERIOUS.. and making a call/writing an email to highway safety, may help some people out..

I ripped my drivers side door handle off on my balt For about 6 months I was forced to pull on the plastic piece to open it Guess that is one benefit of having a COMPLETE base model.. no electrical issues

Yea that is a zip tie for a handle... My car has seen better days...
