Wrong mileage
Wrong mileage
Has anyone else found that on a long trip if you watch the miles markers that somewhere between 24 to 26 miles that the odometer gains a mile?
I have a Cobalt SS/SC with factory rims and tires.
With that kind of gain on the odometer at 36,000 miles there is around 1385 to 1500 miles on the car that you actually did not drive.

another funny thing is, i have trip odometer A and B. i have NEVER reset A since i bought the car it always resets every 999 miles and goes along with the next 100. it currently reads 734 and my mileage is 15, 021.
you know mile markers aren't exactly precise in there placement.so after 26 miles the extra distance between them could be off enough to add another mile and your car registers another mile that you "didn't do according to the markers".
There have been reports that Honda odometers are off majorly... but as far as I know all the other auto makers are pretty much right on the money.
If you want to know for sure... get a GPS and compare the readings.

I talked to the service department today and they said that they are allowed to be up to 4% off an either direction. But they will put in their system to honor my factory warranty till 37,500 miles.
I posted a thread a while ago about this. My speedo and odometer were about 4% off. I noticed it on a long trip to Myrtle beach. Usually, mapquest, google maps, etc, are dead on with their mileage. Say I was suppose to be on a given road for 100 miles. By the time I got to my exit, I would have 104 on my trip. This also puts the speedo at 4 % off. So if my speedo says I'm doing 75, I'm actually doing about 72. That part I like. A little safety cushion.
