WTF just happened to my car?
Ok, so today I was starting from a stop at a light, driving with an appropriate aggressiveness for my '05 SS/SC.
Start off in first gear, and before my car even crosses the stop line, the engine cuts out. The car still runs, but it wont let me accelerate right, and seems to be restricting my RPM from getting beyond 2000. Also, the tachometer is STUCK on 0, even though the car is running and the throttle is responsive.
At this point, no CEL.
I pull over, turn off the car, turn it back on, same problems. I also notice that it is idling rough. Still no CEL.
I start to drive again with the same problems, and pull over once more. This time I shut the engine down for an extra minute or two. When I start it back up, everything is back to normal, but now I have a CEL.
I continue driving, arrive at my destination, and park for a few hours. When I get back to my car, its still running normal and the CEL is gone.
Just drove 2 hours home, with no problems.
WTF!?! Carmax sold me a lemon!
Misfiring perhaps? I don't think its a trans issue, everything works fine there. It must be electrical since it almost fixed itself?
Maybe this explains the bogging I get at 2000RPM?

You found limp mode. Your car is fine. It was just trying to protect itself as it felt there was too much abuse. Happens to all of us sooner or later. No, you did not get a lemon

Limp mode? Really?
It almost sounds like a joke.
Big sigh of relief though.
So is it putting itself into limp mode a sign of some other problem? Like a sensor that couldn't handle the stress, and gave an error code that put the car into limp.
Or is my car 100% fine?
I have a scan tool, just not with me right now. Going to have to wait a few weeks.
