Just had brakes done like 120 miles ago, did bedding procedure. Brakes work well. My concern is that now i have a oscillating rubbing sound that increases with speed and is heard loudest coasting at 17-25mph.

The equipment is r1 concepts slotted rotors and pads are Hawk HPS

Could it be tire noise?
Rotor imperfection?
Rotor finish not worn off yet?
Rim/tire not balanced (though you just hear the noise, not necessarily feel it)?

It takes about 500-700 miles for rotors and pads to fully embed. I would do another brake-in procedure or just drive it until its fully broken in. Keep in mind that drilled and slotted, or slotted rotors will make a bit more noise than blank rotors. Usually you will here the noise more when you are braking though.

ok, so i think i know the culprit. Either it has to be a defect or damage from shipping. Before i had the stealership put them on, i noticed that one of the front rotors (one that was going on passenger front had some black paint missing. I didnt think anything of it, because it seemed high enough to where i didnt think it would matter. You can see where its striking the pad. These front 13 inch rotors came in a 12x12 box, and the edges were sticking out the box, definetly more vulnerable than the rear rotors

Now the noise happens under light braking, but i can feel it through the pedal classic warped rotor noise vs rubbing which i initially felt..... bummer

im wondering what R1 can do for me with my car, I need slotted and drilled rotors front and rear, xr1 front pads and something that isnt gonna crumble on the track in the back. You come up with a good price and I'll take out my credit card. Bonus if you discount me for sporting your stickers.

im on stock rotors and pads on my TC with 35k miles on it. Gonna need new pads soon. Dont know much about brakes so PM me and let me know what we can do here. I dont know if im just gonna need pads or rotors and pads or what. Dont know if I get rotors if i should get drilled and slotted because theylook badass or do they effect my stopping distance or what. I have my rear rotors resurfaced at like 1800 miles and new pads put on the rear then from factory BS rear brake issues

Send me a PM and let me know what we can workout bud

I have a 2010 ss/tc and need new rear rotors and pads for my car. I was wondering how much it would cost for a pair of slotted/drilled rotors with hawk pads

Time to provide some input after running the R1s and Hawk HPS all summer. I put about 15,000km (about 12,000 miles) on the car over the summer. Being someone who tends to use my brakes instead of costing to a stop, and I also have a tendancy to get a little spirited when I end up on a road with a high number of bends, the brakes definitely saw a workout over the summer.

I've probably managed to take 1/4 of the pad off at this point (estimation, won't know for sure until the winters go on) and the rotors still look good as new and perform well. In heavy rain they definitely make more noise as the water sluffs off than a blank but this is expected and nothing out of the ordinary. There is also a faint humming on the highway but this is happening on all our TCs and SCs (local) that have them installed and is not out of the ordinary for a slotted rotor as the air passes over the surface. Absolutely no warping, no grooving, HPS are an excellent pad for street use with the rotors, no complaints at all.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to compliment R1 (Steven in particular) on their customer service. When I originally received my shipment earlier this year I had two driver side rotors (front) but had no choice but to put it on the car with my stock fronts being obliterated. This issue was quickly taken care of and the proper rotor showed up at my door (note I'm in Canada) within 4 or 5 business days of me sending pics to Steven with R1 shipping them out next day! Definitely have a future customer in me .
