They will confirm with GM's computer system that your car is covered and perform the recall. OR They'll find out the recall doesn't apply and you'll be charged nothing... at least thats how it should be.

They wouldn't do my steering fix until I put the stock springs back on.... it was a total pain in the ass. Chevy customer care wouldn't help. Hope your luck is better

The recall is to replace the power steering electric assist motor. The original design has a flaw in it that can cause the motor to fail and no longer provide power assistance. GM has sent out 2 different letters. The first is to notify owners that there is a recall. The second letter is the notification that you need to bring your car in. GM has been doing the recall in stages because of parts availability. So if you ask your local dealer to check, chances are if you haven't received the letter stating "take your car in for the recall" they may tell you it doesn't apply yet.
another thing what if my warranty is over??? do they still cover it?

If there are any dealers in the country that are failing to replace the power steering motors because of "aftermarket modifications" then they need to be reported to General Motors Corporate for failure to perform said recall. If you present the letter from GM stating "return to your local dealer for repairs" then they can not turn you away unless they do not have parts to perform the recall.

I think the recalls are more based on your VIN than your actual model year. I got the one for the power steering, and the.. (something else..lol).. But if you are already at the dealer, I'd just ask. They might be able to run your VIN and see. But if you didn't get anything, I'd bet you're fine.
And yes, if there's a recall, there's a problem with what GM did. Not you or your intake. lol
