big fan of meguiar's spray wheel cleaner and a good wheel brush. i use the hot chrome on both my ion chromies and on my girlfriend's jeep grand cherokee machined wheels.

haven't tried it but people have suggested mr. clean magic erasers

Eagle One All Wheel & Tire Cleaner has worked pretty well for me. As soon as the spray hits the tire, you start seeing brake dust and tire grime start to foam out. I usually boost it with some Meg's APC then use a brush to take agitate.

The nice thing is, it cleans the wheels great, but also the tires. I've seen so many people put tire dressing onto their tires only to have it look just as bad as it did before they started. This stuff takes all the grease, oil, and dirt out of the tire, allowing the tire dressing to work as intended.

There's no way to eliminate brake dust entirely because all friction linings are designed to wear. If the pads didn't wear, they'd soon will damage the rotors - and pads are a lot cheaper to replace than rotors.

The buildup of brake dust can be reduced by applying a coating of wax or polymer-based protectant, or a spray-on wheel treatment. The coating will reduce the tendency of brake dust to stick to the wheels while enhancing the wheel's appearance.

We had great feedback on this subject. European cars suffer from this syndrome very bad especially BMWs.

There’s a big misconception that all of the wheel cleaners will stain you wheels, all do in part is true the majority of wheel cleaners will indeed stain and damage your wheels, BUT not with our Turbo Wax Wheel Cleaner and Brightener actually cleans the wheels without acids or other harmful chemicals, some of which can and will cause spotting or peeling of the clear coat on the wheels, our formula works well on plastic wheel coverings as well. If accidentally sprayed on the vehicle finish, just was off, no harm done, our product is PH balance and will not stain clear coats!

Our Product;

Will NOT Stain or Damage Wheels!
NO Acids or Harmful Chemicals!
PH Balanced to Be Completely Harmless on Clear Coats (Will NOT Stain)
NO Spotting or Peeling on Wheels
Cleans and Brightens Wheels Quickly!

I hope this helps

I changed my brake pads to Hawk HPS pads & I've literally had no dust at all from them compared to the factory pads. The little dust that they do leave is a lot easier to clean off too then the factory ones.
