Car Bra?

So, I had to wash my car today, mainly because some jack ass dumped soda all over my right rear panel, and had a hell of a time with the bugs on the front.

So, I'm contemplating a car bra because for me, my SS/SC is a daily driver. Well, when I'm working anyway. I figure the bugs tearing up the car bra will be cheaper than the bugs tearing up the paint.

Input? As in who has a decent price on one for our cars? Or, a really good wash and wax combo that will limit the damage to my front end? Because I really don't want to be repainting the front end every 3 or 4 years because of all these damn lovebugs.

i personally hate bras, you have to take them off everytime they get wet, they never fit right to start, then they stretch and look too big, just my opinion

Does anyone have any of those clear bra's you can get off E-bay? Or are those not good for the car paint?

IMO, a car bra is too much of a hassle, and it makes the car look bad. Just have a bit of touch up paint for any rock chips, and spend that extra several minutes taking car of the bugs. You probably will end up saving time if you don't get one.

I have one for my LT and It is a pain in the ass to put on and keep dirt out from under it. So I only use it when I travle or do any extended highway driving. Maby you could look in to one of those invisiible bras.

I hate bras, especially the old "pleather" ones. What's the point in protecting something if you never see it? The clear ones might do fine, but I imagine them being hella hard to put on...

I liked mine while I was using it....I used it to cover plate holes..till I got the bumper refinished (replaced)

doesn't look so bad and you get used to it. at least I did.

I have a 3m Clear Bra. It is a clear vinyl. It was $800 installed. A great investment that I am going to make for every car I ever own. It does not come off and has a life-time warranty against yellowing, peeling, etc. You can't even see it unless you are in a certain light. I drive 30 miles one way to work (highway) and in the winter with salt bouncing off the road, it definately saves the paint. HIGH RECOMMENDED.

Holy **** you got robbed....wow.

I got the 3M **** on Ebay for under $50. It did my headlights, hood, fenders, and mirrors. I put it on myself with water and a hairdryer. Let me search for pics of it, I know I took some...
but yeah, very good investment.

Bras are ok protection... But imagine it this way, you have the bra on for years. You decide to sell the car. The bra you had on it, it a bit old and ragged. So you take it off to find the paint underneath looks absolutly perfect and the unprotected areas are sun damaged. You could always buy another bra but your prosective buyer may want to see what it looks like underneath because he doesn't want the bra. He sees what you saw. He doesn't want to drive around looking like he had a bad two tone paint job.

Also, I bought my SS with a clear bra on it. I'm not a big fan of it but it's there. And it is peeling in the corner. Now, I don't know if the previous owner did it himself or a shop did it. Regardless, If I were to take the whole thing off, I risk leaving the residue and/or peeling the paint (Although that would surprize me if it did happen). And I am not about to take some thinner or related product onto the surface of my hood. It is obviously not a good idea no matter what the bottles claims.

But if I were to buy a bra, I would also buy a VW Beetle to go with it.

I got mine off ebay. It is from auto-clearbra .com or something like that. It is 3m and I havent put it on yet, cause i am still looking for an experienced shop to do it. It covers the front bumper, hood, mirrors and fenders, It cost a little under $200 after shipping. i think like $196 to be exact ???

I had one on my 2002 a4 before I got my 2007 cobalt ss/cc and it did a fantastic job and was worth $500 I paid for it. I even had sombody at my college back into my car and since I got it on the back bumper, nothing happened. Took it off and paint matched and no ding, dents, or scratches. I miss the audi...lol

Long story short, I dont think they are a waste of money...

My car stays garaged...and the bra is gone now...so it's a non issue.

I have a LeBra car bra out of spite for the hippies, lol. For those of you that don't get the joke, female hippies don't wear bras for various reason, 1. they like saggy **** and 2. it oppresses the woman.

Anyway: I put 200 highway miles on the car every weekend. During the week, I usually leave it on, but I have a car cover over the car. So the sun should not affect it. In any case, my radiator is nice an spotless because of the nice mesh that Lebra has. I think it actually looks kool.

I will post some pics up tomorrow.

It cost me $60 btw, on ebay. It fit perfectly! I am also going to get it embroidered in the front, I am just thinking of what it could be.

exactly even if you do a quick wash and get the bugs off then use some wax just for the front bumper and part of the hood if that is all the time you have to do. I do it when i quick wash my car. and makes each trip to the car wash easier and protects the paint.
