Oh and I went outside just a little while ago and there was a load of clear coat just peeling and curling off the roof, I removed it all and now there's basically no clear coat left on the roof at all, just little spots

I will say this, when I got the car it had the nastiest interior I'd ever seen and like I said I used to detail cars for years with my dad. But I know he took care of it maintenance wise cause he kept every receipt. But technically I only have $500 dollars in the car so I shouldn't be complaining, but I like to keep my cars looking nice and this just sucks, lol

Sweet bro! You bought an accident repair/previous poor repaint! *facepalm x342342

No factory paint job will do that, that fast. Even Subarus and Mazdas with the shitty thin paint they have OEM wont do that.

That can't be saved. You're gonna have to repaint. I've got a dozen or so rock chips on the hood and some miscellaneous scratches but no clear coat pealing. Even around the chips.

Yeah, I'm prolly gonna end up going satin black. I guess it'll give me a chance to pull off the wing and door trim. Gonna be a while before I have any money to do it with, so I guess I just have to deal with this until then And I knew the car had been wrecked before I even looked at it but I did some trading to get the car and only have about 500 bucks in the car so little things are expected. Just wish I had the cash right now to make it better, lol.

That's exactly what paint looks like when you leave soap on it and let it bake in the sun.

i wash my cars with dish soap before every time i wax them. it removes the old wax, and it is a far better cleaner than car wash. if you dont put wax on afterwards though, you are asking for trouble, because you are fully exposing the paint with absolutely no protection.

How is neglectfulness of the paint, by not waxing it, GM's problem? I actually found the cobalts paint to be better then my F150, in terms of keeping its original shine with simple waxing. You can see in my truck, and its waxed every two weeks darker spots if you look close enough. That my friend is neglect on the part of the previous owner, once it starts going there is no saving it with out a repaint.

great example of why I truly belief in Paint Protection Plans, people love to just shoot them down the minute i try to explain (ex Simonize Shield, Zurich Shield, Dupont Shield whatever dealerships call them) but we offer at my dealership this product by Zurich insurance for the interior and exterior, if you can get a stain out of the seats, they will replace the apolstry! and if you clear cracks/chips they repaint the whole panel. We offer it for 7 years ($499) and people say its bs all the time but in reality its a warranty that you pay for not the actual product itself, which is why i have it on all my cars. And I got a full $200+ detail from Zurich (much better than any local shop) after our shop couldnt get out a terrible baby stain out of one of my seats.

nah thats gms paint jobs. my car looks worse than his and so does another black balt here in the lot at work. its likely just a black issue. i used to wash and wax mine once a month then this **** started happening so now i dont cause at least the dirt and dust covers up the bullshit clearcoat. i have a 99 f350 where the paint has no issues and had an 02 mazda with good paint.

Your car is a POS though. And I agree ford paint jobs dont peel, just fade bad.
