Headliner stains?

So here's the deal i got into my car today to go to the movies with my brother and he says dude you should try not to get skeet stains on your roof so i look over and he points out this quarter to half dollar sized stain right on my headliner by the window . Well with it raining for the past 2 or 3 days i thought maybe my door or window didnt get closed all the way and water leaked through, but with a closer look it looks like something maybe have splashed up and got on the headliner some how... so neways has anyone had any experience with getting stains out of there headliner? Im thinking maybe some carpet cleaner will take it out but i dont wanna mess it up more or just end up smearing the stain worse.
