Maintenance/Protection For Dummies?
Maintenance/Protection For Dummies?
So, as you may know, I'm a brand new Balt owner as of Saturday. Now, here's the thing: I trashed my last car entirely. It was old when I got it, it's old AND broken now, and I think I've washed it twice in two years and vacuumed the interior once.
So I read the detailing guide and did a search, but I'd still like some very basic tips from you guys. Today on the advice of the girl at Auto Zone I bought:
Armor All Protectant (spray)
Maguire's (I think?) Tire Shine
Ice spray for the exterior
Microfiber Cloths
Shop Towels
Some upholstery cleaner spray
I think I should also use Scotch Guard on the seats, and I need some car soap and some buckets to do that with, and some other sponges and tools maybe...
But yeah. Essentially presume I know about as much about cleaning and protecting my car as your average five year old. Probably less than a five year old raised by a CobaltSSnet member! Help? I want this car to look nice and new for a good long time!

what is the production date on your vehicle???? do NOT NOT NOT use a wax until 60 days after....then wash and wax....
also armor all is an awful interior cleaner that greasy residue it leaves only attracts dust....try to find something that doesnt leave greasy residue....and as far as waxes and all i use DP Car Shampoo and Turbo Wax's Wax....i also use 3m Show car wax sometimes.....im thinking of getting some poorboys and trying it....but the most important thing is for you to try something and if you dont like it try something else....
also where are you going to use shop towels??? Dont use those on the paint as they will be very harsh...
And finally Turtle Wax ICE is junk....yes it is easy to apply but the protection only last a few days at best....you should really use a paste carnuba wax or a synthetic liquid wax... Such as Meguires or Mother's or Poorboys or Zymol....there are many brands just find something that works for you
also anything else just post up or PM ill help you....i just started getting serious about this a few months ago but i can help you out a lot and also speak to you in lamen terms and not assume too much of you....
