Nu Finish on plastic...

Hey all,

What's the easiest way to get this crap off the plastic that's around my mirrors? It's leaving a bit of a white residue, not too bad because I was trying to be as careful as possible, but still there and I still want it gone!

Also, what's the best way to "polish" the plastic? I have some Turtle Wax Wet 'n Black I can spray on a rag, would that work?

Cheers,

G

Tire shine works good between washes, that's what I mostly use. Mother's Back To Black works in much the same way but lasts a little longer than regular tire shine. The only problem with it is it's a bit of a magnet for dust and road residue.

Any tips on getting the old gunk off? She's due for the first wax of the season when it gets above 12 celcius, which will be in the next couple weeks. Worth doing a Palmolive wash?

I just use Turtle Wax ICE on the exterior plastic like the mirrors, it shines pretty good and doesnt leave a residue. The rest of the paint I use Mothers. As for removing it you could use a Wax Remover or Ive used orange cleaner before in the past to get the residue off my trim.

I tried to use Palmolive dish cleaner that's supposed to be good at removing wax but it didn't get down to the nitty gritty. I'll try some orange cleaner tonight before washing and the photo shoot, I suppose the little grits in the soap should be able to get it all out of the cracks.

Cheers.

Sorry I don't have anything to contribute as far as how to get it off, but personally I do not like Nu Finish. I used it once on my last car (bright red Grand Prix) and I found it gave a good shine, but made some of the scratches more pronounced. I have never had problems with my Meguiars 3 stage wax kit before, so I know it's not technique.
