Turtle Wax?

Turtle Wax makes a paste wax that provides a high gloss shine without any white residue on plastic trim pieces. This is ingenious, but I want to know what kind of success consumers have had from it. If you've used this before please chime in.

Turtle Wax Ice...ive used it twice on my SS in the 2 months of having the car, i love it, it doesnt really leave residue on plastic pieces but it will get in between crevices and gunked around the badgings if youre careless lol

Ill post a pic later that i took at night of mine about 2 weeks ago after a good detail...its all shiny and purty lol

Ive used the Turtle Wax ICE spray detailer and it is good for touch ups and you can spray it right on black trim pieces without getting that residue.

Somehow I knew you would chime in to this thread. I would have ordered from you, however, I don't like waiting for items to be shipped to my doorstep when I can pick up an equivalent product in a store. I'm not bashing your product by any means, I just feel it's easier for me to go to a store and pick something up as opposed to ordering it online.

i prefer meguiars m105/m205 for corrective work, opti-seal for a sealant, and turbowax's stuff for all interior and waxes.

Would you recommend this Porter Cable kit? Do you know of any cheaper kits?

Also, how often should paint correction work be completed?

I have it and its pretty good. Its slow though because its made to be safe. If I could go back, I think I would get a flex instead of the PC.

What would your reasoning be for getting the Flex instead of the Porter Cable?

I use the liquid on my wife's Mini Cooper plastic pieces. That's all it is good for.keep in mind THIS IS NOT A WAX it is only a polish.I just finished waxing my car with Tubowax, after using my new Porter Cable and my other sweet Turbowax swirl remover.I think you can see the shine from space.i love all of the Turbowax products and juan is always available to walk you through any problems.

its a little more powerful and depending on what your doing, quicker to use. I mainly use optimum polishes and the Meguiars duo I have is the older version, so it takes alot of time to work the product.

With the saftey and ease of the PC, also comes limitations on what it can do. Just something to always remember

The Porter Cable XP will allow you to work in a safe manner using different pads and products, you will be able to do some pretty good correction work.

I had one of those Flex machines and not to take anything away from it, I sold mine after 8 jobs, my primary reason, the head gets super hot to the point that you have to stop, second I never like the movement (probably a personal preference) Many people love them some people don't.

Done with the Porter Cable XP with our products, all it takes is practice and LOTS of PATIENCE

of course it will get hot. So will a rotary buffer. The Flex can and will offer quicker correction and will have a wider range of uses of different products. The PC is limited in its power, thus it wont burn paint like a flex or rotary can (though flex isn't as strong as rotary either), however it requires a much longer working time to break down polishes. The same same advantage to the PC is also its disadvantage.

Not saying the PC can't achieve the same results, it most surly can. I love my PC, but I was offering my own opinion in other options. A PCXP can take full day or more for a great full car correction. It creates a very long process and usually wont finish as well as a more powerful buffer (flex or rotary).

I would recommend the PCXP as a starter tool though

I've been using the original verison of the Meguiar's G100 (PC7424) for years now and it can take a beating, thats for sure. VERY reliable machine. Offers great results too if you match the pads and compounds properly to suit the machine. It can definitely provide amazing results.

I've always used Meguiars products myself. My compound of choice is their Paint Reconditioning Cream, and for a sealant I've always been happy with the M2116 Synthetic Sealant 2.0. No complaints at all.

Wax residue on plastic trim pieces shouldn't be a problem anyways if you know what you're doing. LoL. If buffing, tape it off. If hand waxing, don't suck at it...hahahah

I have been using Turtle Wax Ice Liquid polish since day one. http://www.turtlewax.com/main.taf?p=2,1,1,1
It only works well on newer paint surfaces. It won't restore a dull finish. You might have to detail with a clay-bar/polish/wax first.
There are no abrasives in the T.W. Ice, so it won't remove minor scratches, contaminates, etc... I use Meguiar's Cleaner Wax for that.
There is enough in a bottle to last for two years worth of polishing. Don't use too much! Takes about 45 minutes to polish my whole car. And I'm **** about my shine.
Just follow the directions on the bottle and it turns your car into a mirror. At least it does on my Black SS/TC. The shine lasts about 4-5 car washes.

I also use the Turtle Wax Ice Detailing spray http://www.turtlewax.com/main.taf?p=2,1,1,2 It works really well.
Both products leave no residue on your trim. And both products are truly easy on and easy off. Remember to use a clean micro-fibre towel to remove the polsih!
Works great on windows too. Acts like Rain-X.
