washing / waxing rims??? help me out (urgent)
so the inside of the rim and a bit of the outisde isn't as shiney as it used to be..the inside is almost even actually starting to get yellowish almost like a little rust coloured its not shiney at all any more but very dull and i have some brake dust pitting..well a lot actually ..how do i get rid of this **** and refinish the inside..oh btw incase no one knows i also painted my wheels
i already clear coated them..but only the black part obviously....so do i wax the entire thing and what kinda wax would/should i use?

sure it didn't do a miracle and take everything off PERFECTLY infact under most of the brake dust build up that it did take off i found that the brake dust ate through the finish and went to the metal...however the eraser took off like 85% or more off..+ the stupid yellowish ****..although on one rim in a few places it seems ot be stained like some sort of red wine that never comes out (only in yellow lol) i used the insdustrial strength one..props for DOC!
*edit* btw i tried some of that rim cleaner **** on spray on ..wash off and it'll go with it..well..it did NOTHING LOL

I went through the same thing this spring when switching from the steelies to mags.
I'll tell you what I did to make mine mint again, took a bit of trial and error.
After washing with car wash soap, I cleaned with Castrol "Super Clean" Cleaner Degreaser. That helped break down some of the chunks of caked on dirt.
After rinsing, I took the clay bar to it. The clay bar became filthy, so I know it worked at removing quite a bit of gunk and brake dust particles.
There was still staining from the brake dust as I had pitting as well. I have quite a variety of Meguiar's, 3M and Einzett, and other polishes and compounds, but since I was working by hand, chose to use my cheapest and simplest one: Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound (the one that comes in a white/red plastic can). I worked it in with a blue foam applicator pad.
I followed up with Meg's #83 to reduce the appearance of the marring the TW Rubbing Compound had induced.
Took me about 2 hours. Needless to say, it came out perfect. I probably could have skipped the clay bar, as the rubbing compound cuts through the clearcoat anyways.
The best part of doing this all is that once you get them clean, apply a good wax or preferably sealant. In the future, washing the brake dust off of the mags becomes much easier. The brake dust tends to not cake on so easily as well.

I use that for my rims and tires, it cleans both. I like to take a hand towel or something that I can almost scrub with thats still gentle. Just spray on either tire or rim and press down hard and wipe off. Scrub the tires and it gets off those nasty dirt stains and etc. Then reapply and gently wipe off both tires and rims and your good to go.
