Where can you buy clay bars? Or is it something that has to be bought online? I've checked a couple stores in my area and haven't had any luck.

local try walmart or autozone advanced...they have a kit by Mothers that is pretty good....other than that you may have to find out if there is a detailing supply store around you and see if they have any....

 

Found a Mother's kit at the local O'Reillys - Spent 3 hours on the car, which is probably is very small amount compared to what some of you guys do, but the car looks great and the paint feels so much better. I'll post pictures later

 

Wow...Claybars usually only take like 30mins....Did you polish/wax after??

mother clay bar kit here, i like it.

 

This is a good amount of time for your a car your size...... I bet the car looks great. I have had people use Maguires and Mother's on my cars & I can never tell the difference.

 

sometimes people including myself notice every ****** speck of dirt on the car and dont stop til it feels like glass...then wash and wax....usually when i clay bar then wash wax and stages in between i total about 8-9 hours but its worth it

 

ha sometimes i get into th 10's of hours....

but i guess a complete paint restoration is a big deal...

dont let people tell you that you took too much time, because i would rather you take your time and do it right and not scratch your car; than you come back on complaining of scratches, and now you have to spend more money getting them fixed...

 

Well I used the clay bar on the entire car, took my time, got all the specs of tar and what not off. I didn't have time to wax it, I think on Friday I'm going to go see my dad wash the car again and wax the car.

leaving the paint unwaxed wasa bad idea...

the claybar removed all wax previously on the car and now you have nothing protecting your paint and clear coat...

 

Yeah, I know, I will be waxing the car on Friday. Unfortunately that is the soonest I can do it between school and work. Car is in covered parking for the time being.
