so the slave cylinder is the same thing as the throw out bearing correct? and is the tranny a linkage or hydraulic tranny? and what other parts should i replace when doing clutch/flywheel?

 

The slave is the throw out bearing on the F35. The clutch system is hydraulic with cables for the shifter linkage.

Generally, as a minimum when you do the clutch, you should do the flywheel, flywheel bolts(torque to yield), clutch pipe, and the clutch elbow. I went farther and got the pipe from the master to the elbow, and some go as far as replacing the master as well.

Yes. You can get away with no doing it, but since you're there it's just an added "I don't have to worry about it" measure.

The further away from the transmission, the less of an ordeal to change it but it's still easier. The clutch pipe though is a for sure swap (don't forget the little rubber seal in the distro block). The last thing you want to see is a drip of fluid coming out of your bellhousing and have to take the entire stupid thing apart to fix a little pipe in there.

 

exninja, can you please elaborate on the little rubber seal that the distro block connects with. i have fairly new everything from reputable shop and just started to leak from that connection. looks like an oring and i have tried replacing oring but still leaks down inside under that coupling where clutch pipe goes through fitting. is there something else that goes with the clutch tube that goes to slave? or is this a special seal and not an oring?thanks for your help

 

There is a special seal. It sits on the very end of the clutch pipe that sticks out of the bellhousing.

 

Replace the clutch, flywheel, flywheel bolts, clutch puor, throw our bearing, throw out bearing bolts, distrubution block.

All these parts are cheap enough to warrent replacing

 

exninja, you are my hero! been fighting this leak off/on for the last month. picked up part from dealer, installed this afternoon and the old man wagon is shifting just like it should with no leaks. now back to blowing the doors off of unsuspecting cars. thanks a million!

 

Would the clutch pipe still need replaced if the throw out bearing were unmolested, as in an engine swap? My clutch is only a year old, so I'm not replacing it during the swap. I know to replace the flywheel bolts, but that was all I intended to do.

 

If I were in your place, and the pipe is only a year old, I wouldn't touch it. In general, if you're going to leave the TOB/pipe assembly intact, I personally wouldn't mess with it but that's my opinion.
