Odd sound coming from turbo
Like the title says, when I accelerate and get above 3k rpm the turbo starts to make this weird sound , sounds like if you taped paper to the compressor fins and spun it really really fast, tryed posting a video but no can do and Im nkt sure what it is.
I tried moving it in and out but nothing, it feels very sturdy. I'm not sure but it may have been replaced before i bought it, it make boost fine about 13-15 psi , wasnt sure if it was the wastegate or bypass valve maybe failing.
havent checked the wastegate yet, but i was listening to it on the way to work today and and the serpentine belt has some small cracks in it and could be slipping some...or alot tensior pulley is eother black from tje fsctory or black from the belt slipping on it, gonna try and replace the belt and see where that gets me, ill check the wastegate while im at it also.
Stock air box? My car has mostly been in storage but it was making a similar type noise to what you were describing last I was driving it a bit. After-the-fact I recalled that there's a piece of foam that mates the lower snorkel to the lower air box assembly. Possible it could have came loose and is sucking and flapping in the lower intake tract.
Another possible area that might cause something similar would be the compressor by-pass valve (i.e. "blow-off" valve) if the diaphragm isn't sealing correctly. That or maybe something like the PCV valve is flapping on it's seat. Unfortunately sounds are difficult to diagnose over the internet, even if you were able to make a video or audio recording.

I did consider the intake could be an issue, I'm actually looking for either a CAI or short ram inake. the tube was serperated from the air box so i used some flex seal tape to close the gap.....but despite my best efforts, it's still giving me ****.
