well last night i went out to woodward to cruise with my friend. hes a heavy guy at 180+ lbs and i just filled my car up full because if im gonna cruise i dont need to run outa gas or pay high prices. so while we are cruising i stop in at hawthorns where alotta the "tuner" guys hang out. i see 3 cars there at the moment but one caught my eye. it was a scion TC. looked reall nice to. had some 17's on 215/45 tires. he had a 2.5 inch catback, header, and a injen cold air intake. i only have my gmpp performance exhaust on at the moment. so we talk for a bit learning about each others car. we are both 5 speed manuals as well.

so we decide to go line them up. we get to the stop light perfect timeing. we said we go to about 60. speed limit being 50. light turns green with just a little tire chirp on my side and his. were dead even for a bit then at about 25 i start to pull a 1/4 car length. by 2nd gear at 45 im a 1/2 car ahead. now at about 55 i could tell his car was creeping up a bit i THINK because its hard to tell when ur going that fast and trying to drive. maybe it was just that his car was LOUD as HELL. but we let off with me about 1/4-1/2 car ahead.

so after we go back to hawthorns hes just like "ur sure u only have a exhaust?" im like "lol ya im positive, i wouldnt lie" so he was really just impressed with the cobalt being as fast as it was. he even asked me "is it a SS??" i respond with "nope i got the luxury sport LS" we laughed and talked a bit afterwords. soon after i decided to call it a night.

so all in all with my car weighted down with full tank of gas, 180+lb friend, and i got my schoolbooks with my ss/sc downpipe in my trunk, i was able to BEAT A TC WITH MORE MODS THEN ME.

just shows sometimes money isnt everything. i paid 12,000 for my LS + 400 for my catback. and he paid 20,000 for his car and about 2 grand in mods. 12,400 can beat 22,000 dollars lol. just found that funny. o and after we raced hes like ya im gonna go turbo lol.

 

you went to 60? Maybe if you ran to 80-90 he prob. would have reeled you in.

But its nice to know that we could hang with a TC, good run

the two cars are very similar in power, its really a drivers race. u could race another TC tomorrow and lose by a car...

i guess its possible. but the thing also was that its not just a drivers race. he had headers, catback and an intake. whereas i only have catback. not to mention his car is rated higher in HP then mine.

im sure if i versed a stock tc or one with just a catback i would win hands down

 

i think that if you would have gone up to 80 or 90 you still would've had him cause i while i raced a scion tc with similar headers, intake, catback and he couldn't catch up to me and all i had was myself in the car an intake my short shifter and thats it, nothing else and he couldn't so i think regardless you would've won.

 

tC has a terrible 1st to 2nd jerk that ruins all excitement in driving the car.

i had an 05 and 06 and both of them did the same thing.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I didn't get the Tc like I initially wanted lol I always want to race one to see how my 2.4 fairs against one but I always see preppy girls in them lol and they never seem to want to race lol
