how to page, clean-up

i love the time and effort everyone outs into the how to section. problem can arise trying to find one of them esp if its older. yes i know a search but it can bring up other pages on the topics.

theres 10 pages to look thru.......

suggestion:
on the how-to page maybe breaking it down to: suspension, interior, exterior, stereo systems/neons, brakes, maintance, engine bay, misc, etc, etc.

just a thought to improve the site.

That would make sense... have the main section and subsections below? Is that what you are thinking about? I think that would help narrow searching for sure!

Or, you could search just the howto section...

how to use the advanced search:

I still have problems with the search not finding things I KNOW are there.
I get really pissed when I search for something and get ZERO results and then I have to wait 30 seconds to search again using a different key word!!!

works for me every time. make sure you are spelling the word(s) correctly.

the problem w/ that is dumbasses use titles like, 'omg', 'check this out', '......', 'ups just dropped this off', etc.

Well the normal words are correct. Its the 'omg check this out', blah blah, that I cant remember 'exactly' so I have to try em all. Then I hate waiting for 30 sec every time I try another variation! It gets frustrating at times.

Or like I'm looking for "return fuel system" and I get every thread with 'fuel' 'return' and 'system' not the whole thing. Maybe I just don't know how to do it right?

Yea well, we shouldnt approve how-to's with titles like that should we?

As for the "special people" that do that in the normal forums, they need a kick in the ****

Then I get 10,000 threads with the word fuel in it!

I just want the 4 that have 'fuel return' as a phrase! Wish there was some way to do that!

make sure you change the option from "Search entire posts" to Search Titles Only

this site needs the option of 'exact phrase' to do a search.

I don't see how there would be that many how to's that it would be a major issue there.

The titles definitely should be very clear and to the point though if they are being approved if they are not already.

I had no issues finding the thread you were looking for, I search: fuel, in thread titles only for threads in the How-To Section of the forum

that brings us back to improper titles. The phrase is often only in the thread and not the title. It may have just been chatted on in the ***** thread in October? That would be hard to find witout an exact phrase match!

Searching through pages of crap for the 10 posts that are usefull.

I just pulled that one outta my ****! I can't remember the searches that I had to dig deep to find right off hand.

That is why you only select the section of the forum you want to search, not all of the forum. hence using the Advanced Search
