Locking Old Threads.

Seems like we having a bunch of members joining lately that don't pay attention to thread dates. Adding their 2 cents towards conversations that are long over.

Could we start locking really old threads or have a warning like some forums before posting to an old or inactive thread?

^^^^ agreed I just kinda laugh when I see a post on a thread or few that are like a half a decade ago or more

I get that, but at the same time I don't see why we need to keep starting new threads for the same topic over and over.

half the time the posts are barely related to the original topic. or added "info" that not worth the bump.

I lock them as they come, but there is no way I'm going to spend the time to go lock old threads one by one.

Sometimes an old thread helps, but the ones which were beaten to death will always be locked when I see them pop up.

When I was on w-body.com, if you tried posting in an older thread a warning would come up and say "this thread is xxxx old, are you sure you want to post in it"

I have no idea how old it had to be. Or if its even still like that. I haven't been on there in 5 years or so.

A forum I'm on gives a warning for threads inactive for 100 days.

It's just a little preventative measure to make people second guess their post and its significance.

This makes a lot more sense than just locking it.
