Search....

This is not a bash on the site at ALL.

I got this message and thought it was funny

"This forum requires that you wait 30 seconds between searches. Please try again in 1 second."

Come on! It's one freaking second lol.

Sometimes I get this message and sometimes I don't. Guess it depends on the time of day?

But if I go in and check "My Posts" and if there aren't any newer posts on them, I want to go ahead and check "New Posts" but 30 seconds seems like forever.

What does everyone think about possibly bringing it down to like 10-15 seconds?

we have enough site problems as it is. We don't need even more usage.

the search is the most strenuous thing on the server. this is why they put the 30 second wait

Pretty sure it's an "anti-spam" measure.

The search is slow as *****.

slow as ***** is putting it mildly lol. My process is to hit my posts, go to another site for a while, eventually come back, go to the other site, and then it's usually up, or the page cannot be displayed, wait 30 seconds and start it over lol.

after being here for so many years, it's tough to not wait it out lol. But I can't imagine it's good for retaining new members. I've never been on any site that is as slow as this one, and if I was a new member I probably wouldn't have the patience for it. If it was a once in a while thing, it would be different. But every single day there are site problems.

here's an example... I just come on, hit the my posts, said you must wait 30 seconds between searches, try again in 14 seconds... waited 14 seconds, hit my posts, it said "sorry, no results match your search" so had to wait another 30 seconds and try again.

That problem can be fixed by an admin.

lol @ the people saying it's due to server reasons, that's why it's at 30 seconds.

It could be set to 60 seconds and it still wouldn't make a difference.

Since when do you see a 30 second wait on a search engine?

It's an anti-spam feature.
