I think the whole thing should be run like run like the how to section. but i can also see some mods be impartial to vendors that they like. i think either way it wont be perfect but something should be in place.
Because if they are going to make the excuse that's it's because the vendors pay then we have the excuse that because we pay we get more say in what goes on. If you visit this site very often. The 15 dollars a year is well worth it.

^^^x2, the threads would just have to be very closely monitored by the moderators here

I've read through the thread and I have an idea.

There should be a review section which can be seen by all members. However, when a memeber makes a complaint against a vendor, it should be only visible to the member and the vendor UNTIL it is found out to be a legitimate complaint. Once that happens it should be shown to all members and flagged as 'Unresolved' until it is 'Resolved' so that members can see how the vendor tried to make the situation right again.

A complaint form would also help at all so that they are all in the same order with the same information etc to make them all similar.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. Have a competent person (such as erod, just to throw a name out) who deals solely with complaint and vendors. when its posted, it goes only to that person, they deal with contacting the vendor with the complaint and approving it to be posted or not. We definately need something. Hell, i would give TTR full stars and amazing reviews all days, other vendors, not so much. There was also a vendor i had issues with that, over much back and forth, made good on the issue. Still would have given them at least 4 stars. If needed, i would become a premium member to voice my opinion.

i think this is a great idea.
as far as people being more likely to post when they have bad experiences, that is true, but if youre a good vendor you will have far less bad experience threads than the not so great vendors. not to mention i have seen numerous threads thanking ttr and createnginedepot, just to name a few, praising them for their great customer service and speedy delivery time.
also if you say that some of the bigger vendors will have more complaints because they do more business, they should also have more compliments too.

TTR, one of the biggest vendors, will probably have so few negative comments that you wont be able to find them. they are the ****.

Ahhh to be as blissfully ignorant as you

The problem is forum members in this forum as a general rule are too young and feel as though they need to whine/complain by making a thread instead of PMing the vendor first.

How they respond in your PM should tell you the legitimacy of the company

The vendor favoritism that goes on this site needs to come to a tragic halt.

I am not even playing.

Give that man the cupie doll, cause he just hit one of the major problems on the head. There are some(NOT ALL need to spell that out before I start a riot) vendors on here, that are and have, and probably will continue to screw members. I agree that a way to police vendor relations is way over due.

But everyone is dancing around the same basic ideas, but the major problem/question is how in the hell do you do it?

What should be tried is start a "vendor review" thread, have a decient mod watch it, and see how it goes. If people post crap for the sake of posting crap, delete the post and issue the member a violation/bann, so that people get the hint to keep it clean and about vendor reviews only.

Just an idea.

This is an attempt at a compromise: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/general-cobalt-68/official-vendor-review-thread-147562/

Do not abuse it, or attempt to take advantage of the system.

i think the reason behind it is. . . people just tend to blow up and post about what a bad experience they had without contacting the vendor first. it's these people that ruin it for everyone. this, and i have only been apart of this site for a few months.

if you have a problem, try and resolve it with the vendor first. you have the possibility to get it resolved and could be a misunderstanding. if not, you and the vendor both lose. you, because now the vendor is going to be less likely to want to work with you after you've blackballed them. Then, the vendor loses because you HAVE blackballed them and they'll lose business.

my 2 cents.

Our local site has a "vendor feedback" section. It's a great way to separate the good vendors from the bad. Just ask Rebel Autoworx! lol http://www.ontariocobaltclub.com/com...php?board=58.0

We (the mods) bring up a lot of concerns about vendors, but it's usually out of our hands because we don't own the site.

These are private transactions, so the first thing you should do is bring it directly to the vendor. Honestly, it's childish to jump to conclusions and call a vendor crappy without ever giving them a chance to fix it. You can't expect them to always have an eye on the forum, so bring it right to them before you create any threads. If they refuse to fix the problem or accommodate in any way, then bring it to the site staff or admin.

I'm sure I can speak for the rest of the mods when I say there should be a way to rate a vendor, but it needs to be a fair assessment. There are a lot of idiots on the site who just want to stir things up, so it's nearly impossible to have a fair system.

It would be nice to have a forum on the site like the how-to section that has to be approved before it's visible.

That wouldn't work so good IMO. Anyone with a grudge would have a field day.
