Was true. But I think one possible reason it was disabled was there was a girl that used to post on here many many many moons ago that was underage and someone went all pedophile on her in the chat room. She was having a hard time at home, and he started telling her he'd drive to her house and "take her away" from the drama. Another member stepped in, told the admin, and chat got shut down not too long after that.

I think it was tried at another point, but again moderation was an issue. And it just became a toilet bowl overflowing with feces. It's just never really worked here. Half the members are mature and respectful enough to use it, but the other half's ignorance and immaturity is what gets it shut down.

Personally I'm in no hurry to see it enabled again.

damn i didnt know that went down. like a bunch of guys wanting to hook up with donna or now rissa doesnt seem that harmful but if some **** like that went down twice? nah **** it. i honestly could careless if there's a chat or no but its not worth it if this is going to become some 60 minute to catch a predator type deal. hopefully the member was banned?

 

It all depends. Most of the girls on here are pretty chill and laid back, some like the attention, but I'll admit even when it was just them hitting on adult females people would still get out of line. You can't be a girl and into cars and not expect crude comments, just people would push well past where they should asking/saying perverted stuff over and over and over again.

I can't remember if he was banned, or if he left out of embarrassment. Either way I haven't seen him on this site since. And not everyone knew about it, it was never made a public spectacle. He just said some really creepy stuff and another member stepped in and said something about it. It was definitely some old school to catch a predator ****.

It's hard to tell how it would go over now, I would like to think people could be mature and handle it. But there are still some immature people on here. That and I'm guessing most intelligent chats would get inturrupted by FUPAninja jumping in every so often asking if he did his dog up the butt if there was a chance she'd have his puppies.

The pedophile was a premium member, I'm 99.9% sure. Paying money for a title doesn't eliminate problems, although misbehavior could result in suspension of premium or platinum perks, but again that goes back to having some way to moderate. Back in the day at least, most of the people who got permabanned were people who were premium members.

 

Okay a disclaimer making you agree to the terms.. and a way to report people where mods can go back and look at logs when they get a chance and make a decision from there?

I don't think the standard Vbulletin chat was able to be logged. WHEN people got in trouble it's because someone took a screen shot of the chat and sent it to a mod.

If you really want a chat with other members, do what everyone else does and go to a site where you can start your own, or just use an IM chatroom.

 

dude mods cant patrol everything now, having them scroll through 90 pages of chat nonsense every day is insane. and thats how most chat rooms end up. thats why i stopped hanging around battle.net. i get in and go straight to a game now. cool to flirt n whatnot but you arent going to get internet poon and if you do get an internet gf wtf is wrong with her that the local cack doesnt want anything to do with her.
