Ugh i tried to do the touchups... i have a fairly steady hand. it looks even worse than it did when it was a ******* chip... i hate this ****. there has got to be an easier way... used the ballpoint end of the brush instead of the huge brush part.. all it did was come out in a big globby and it looked shiny and somewhat decent... until i went to pull the tip away and it went all gooey and stringy which made a huge mess. now i have a huge blobby pit of paint with paint strings leaving it. god help me.

my fiancees touchup pen was even worse for her kia.. paint barely works and it's a ******* huge tip that's impossible to touch up small spots with.

my paint needs some TLC in general because of swirl marks and crap on it. claybar city is required but for now the rough stuff like chips... i don't know what to do... it's a lost cause..

 

brake clean takes the touch up paint back off

 

clay bar is awesome and i recommend it like once a year before waxing, but for touch- up paint and stuff i use a toothpick to put it on...

 

i have been thinkin about finding a piece of a cobalt or a car to try my touch up methods before i take it to professional after i eff it up possibly lol nice try tho, its funny you vented on here

i don't think it matters what i use to apply it... the paint is too goopy and goes stringy the moment i try to take the applicator away from the paint applied :/


also i washed my car and noticed the dealership scratched the **** out of my rims putting the new tires on... not a good day. we'll see what they say tomorrow when i lose it on them... but they're gonna deny it i know it.

 

holy **** thats shitty touch up work....thats worse than what we normally get at the shop.


1. Dont use pens
2. Fine a fine tip brush and then try it....brush your tip on the edge of the bottle to knock excess paint off and thinly put a layer of paint on the chip....Black is sooo easy to.

for the paint being gooey, apply a small amount of laquer thinner to thin it out...then ofcourse shake it. I work at a PDR "paintless dent repair" shop with Gestapo007 and I am normally in charge of all buff and touch ups but Im still in the learning process but if you get the right stuff then applying it will only be half your worries.

the brush in the touchup bottle sucks ass.. is there any way yo remove that glob now? will a claybar do it? it will i have to rechip it and take that glob off and try again?

 

Laquer thinner will remove it right off, then wipe the area with a clean rag....re apply. Buy a new brush..don't use that gay pen ****...dealer will have them or a paint store carries empty bottles for like $1.50
