bah... out of all the things they had to get f1? how about a dragway, or a nascar track, or a pro sports team in ANYthing....

F1 is huge though. It's a global sport just like soccer is. And the track isn't just hosting F1.

Infineon is a great track but I don't think it's FIA rated. Even Laguna had to make a few changes to comply to FIA regulations for motoGP.

and how would you know that considering this track hasnt even been run by anyone yet?

i cant wait til this thing kicks off. our company sponsors an f1 team so im hoping to get cheaper tickets. ive been on the mailing list for awhile. from what ive seen theyre thinking of starting 3 day ticket prices at 100-175. probably closer to 175 but thats good enough.

And in the US people don't care about either. The US has had f1 in numerous locations and after a few years the novelty of a new location wears off and people stop going. The cars are amazing. The racing itself is terrible.

I went to the race at indy. The best racing I saw that weekend was Porsche gt3 cup, followed by the formula Ford or something, then indy pro, and a very distant last f1. Basically the higher the level of racing the worse it got, no passing, and the more spread out the cars became.

FIA requires their own separate garage and pit areas which just adds more costs to getting your track sanctioned.

I agree that F1 has slowed down on fan base due to lack of exciment but when you have people who build cars from scratch and engineer everything themselves, someone will be faster.

The support races are great races and I enjoy them as well but because it's a "spec" class, everyone starts out with the same car.

It's not even someone is faster because they figured something out. I'm all for the cool engineering side of it. Even the cars running mid pack aren't competitive with each other. I haven't paid much attention in a few years but it used to be the same thing the made the cars so fast made them unstable around other cars which just ruins the racing. The engineers have taken the racing out of the drivers hands. I think they have started to get rid of some of that stuff so maybe it will improve.

Yes, they have taken out traction control and a lot of drivers aids.

That's what will greatly improve the racing. The ability for a driver to make mistakes or get too aggressive.

if you look at the lay out it was made so that the fans can see most of the track, while the other track that F1 used to run have barely any stands at all beside the back str8.

I went to the first 4 years of the F1 at Indy and it was incredible. I was pretty sad when they shut it down but it's great to see that Bernie is giving the US another go. I hate having to wake up at 4 to watch the race lol
