Dude says is was because:

(1) Car did not have an airbox

(2) Idle air control was not connected to airbox

(3) Oil breather on the oil cap


He was sure happy to take my 40 bucks any way....


Any of this make sense? Obviously the oil breather needs to "go". But what's this nonsense with the airbox? I took it a year ago to a stealership with an Injen intake, and they didn't say ****...not to mention there's no provision for an idle air control on that damn thing either...../rant

 

idle air control? we don't have an IAC cause we have a ******* electronic throttle body. what a dipshit

 

i wanted to argue with him, but I was in a pickle.....doing a state inspection next to two cops handling a speed trap, and my car is catless ...either way, I think I'll go back there tomorrow and give him a piece of my mind.

 

well, you know about the breather. technically the valve cover vent needs to be hooked to the intake to pass inspection...technically.
as far as the airbox...theres no such rule, that one was bs...just like the IAC, as stated above your car didnt even come with one and theres no regulation on it anyway. he took your money and your intitled to go back within a couple weeks for a free reinspection.
hook the breather back up and take back to him tomorrow and tell him to pass it. He was wants to rant about an air box or some crap have him show you the rule in his book. Every inspection station is required to have the regulation book AT the inspection station. But it wont matter cus its not in there.

I have my vc already connected to my intake. It goes from the vc, to the can, back into the intake.

i know right? I took it to the dealership last year, and they just plugged in the obd scanner, signed off, and then took an hour asking me questions about how much I like driving it.

 

I take it to a guy that says honk the horn and you pass!!!

That's all I had to do when I was living down there.

Granted it's been 10 years since I lived down there, but there's used to be one in Houston on Highway 6, right near the interchange with I-10.

 

I got failed because I didn't have a muffler once. However the law states that a turbocharged vehicle does not have to be equipped with a muffler.

I went home, printed out the law for the guy from the official state police website, took it back in. Guy gave me a free inspection since he flat out told me I was wrong before.

Half the time it's because the inspector doesn't know what the **** he's talking about

 

call them in to whatever office does the licensing for inspection stations lol

 

I had an ex that kept the entire PA state motor vehicle code in his car. Before he would sign a ticket, he would look up the statute that the cop wrote on the ticket. I think eventually he got blacklisted by several municipalities, they would either never pull him over, or they'd pull him over just to harass him.

Well you know what they say

 

went back this morning. Put on a "stock" oil cap on there....which my car was not happy about. She was smoking worse than a seafoamed muscle car

She smoked up their entire lot, but I still took it to them. The manager was on site today, and she didn't want anything to do with it, until I gave her the receipt for the failed inspection. The guy shut the hell up real quick, didn't even bother to open the hood, and five minutes later, I got my sticker.
