Meth Fluid Help

Hey, for anyone that uses meth down in texas, what kind of windshield washer fluid do you use? I know it's best to use one that's at least -20*, but I don't believe they sell anything less than 0*. So if you use 0*, do you know what ration of meth/water is in the 0* mixture. I'm curious about the last question so I know how much HEET to use to make it a 50/50 mix.

Go to Advance Auto Parts.. Here in NC they have -20* don't see why they wouldn't in TX. Also.. 1 bottle of -20* and 2 bottles of the yellow HEET bottles will make about a 50/50 mix.

How often do you think it gets to -20* in NC? Never... It's rarely below 30* here.

I've gone to AAP, and the only sell +20*. I wouldn't be making the OP if I hadn't done my research first, lol.

more often than texas.... which would be why they prob don't sell it there also another reason that they would sell it in NC is cause it wouln't be to bad of a drive if you wanted to go somewhere north where it would be cold as **** (8 hrs?) but for him it would be a 12 hr drive just to get to somewhere chilly.... just saying

I've already seen that article. That's what gave me the idea to combine heet with windshield washer fluid But, the problem is still the fact that I can't find any fluid that's rated at -20*. So, what I'm trying to figure out is either where to get -20 down here in texas, or what everyone uses down and what the ratio of meth to water so I can see how much heet to add to that.

Do you have any circle dirt tracks nearby? This is a great place to get pure methanol cheap. They run the midget cars on this stuff and will generally sell it to you for about $5.00 a gallon. Mix that 50/50 and its only costing $2.50 per gallon.

For those that are using -20 degree below zero windshield washer fluid. You need to add four bottles of Heet to raise it up to that 50/50 range.

-20 Windshield washer fluid is typically 30-35% methanol (depending on the brand)

1 gallon contains 128 oz

30-35% methanol is 38-45 oz

Remaining water/fluid is 90-83 oz

You need approximately 4 bottles of HEET (12 oz each x 4 bottles=48 oz) to bring the methanol volume up to match that of the water to get approximatly 50/50 water methanol.

Unfortunately, I live inside the city, so there's dirt tracks around here that I know of. That's why the windshield washer fluid + heet is my best option.

*0ff topic* - just bought your stage I kit and I'm looking hella foward to installing it

Anyways, do you by any chance know the ration of meth/water in 0* fluid? Or how about +20, as that's the most common type of fluid down here.

bump

Go to home depot and buy denature alcohol then. its in the paint department. mix that 50/50 with distilled water. Denatured alcohol is generally 85% ethanol with 15% methanol. Works just as good.

Buy a gallon of methanol or methyl hydrate from a hardware store in the paint section, mix 50/50 with distilled water...there you go, you have your meth fluid. Easier than running windsheild washer, because it contains no detergant like washer fluid.

Guess I could key in here. The guy at the north side meet I took you to with the Blue SRT4 run pure or mixed but starts with pure meth. If you want I can check with him and see where he gets it but I can say it will be on the far north side of Houston.

no problems running that straight?
better to run some water mixed?
run lean/rich with just denatured alcohol?

you caught my interest here. I think it's like 12 bucks for a gallon. Is this straight meth (i know methyl hydrate is another name for methanol), or are there other components in the stuff in it too?

Depends on if you're looking for power or cooling.

With straight water injection, you're lowering intake temps.

With a 50/50 Mix you're lowering intake temps and probably knocking your timing up a degree.

With Straight Denatured I was able to bump my timing up about 3*

Depends on where in TX you are...There is a huge VP distributer here in texas and you can get 5 gallons of Meth for $42. So if you mix it 50/50, you get 10 gal of mix.

I was just thinking, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm so new at this. Heet is pure meth for your gas lines, right? That's the whole reason why you would add it to washer fluid (to up the meth content). What if I just used 8 bottles of heet and mixed that with distilled water? Wouldn't that be fine to run as a 50/50 mix of meth/water?
