mobile 1 sythetic better than regular
I just got a oil change today and put in mobile 1 and damm my car feels like it runs better now. Is mobile 1 really that better oil than regular oil. They told me i could go 5500 miles on it and i paid $58 for it. I was usually paying $38 for regular oil which i changed every 3000 miles. Let me know what you guys think?
thanks

spend 30 and change it yourself.
also, any difference you feel is probably in your head. but any synthetic will of course be better than regular oil. go by the life meter in the car. i've done oil changes at 50% oil life left and the oil still looks pretty damn good.

i am thinking of starting to do my own oil changes in the garage. Is that all it would cost me is $30 if i bought everything from walmart. If so i will probably start doing it myself. I was going to visit walmart to see how much it would cost me for everything. I only take 4.5 quart of oil too. I usally change my oil when it shows 60% left when i was changing regular oil at 3500 miles. I have the injen cold air intake and b&m shift plus and it just feels better to me than the regular oil. Will synthetic really make your car last longer though than regular.

there's no need to change your oil before 5,000 miles if you use synthetic. if your'e mostly highway miles you can go longer than that too. i would change it when the meter gets down to around 20% or so. if you're worried, you can always check it and see how it looks.

****! well i only pay about 40 bucks for my oil change all together. My 6 quarts of oils is about 30 bucks and the filter is about 5 and the Firestone that i take my car too only charges 5 to change the oils since i have all the parts. Besides, the filter is a bitch to get to under that s/c so i just pay someone else five to deal with the headache

i can barely get my hands in there, but i wouldn't pay someone else to do my oil. i like doing it and knowing that it gets done right.

it's more difficult than the 2.2 is, that's for sure! the oil filter on the 2.2 is in the same exact location except there's not a supercharger blocking your way

yeah i agree with you on changing it yourself. Is the plug hard to get to when i go to drain the oil. Ive jacked my car enough so im not worried about getting under the car. I read online to change it when the oil is hot so it drains better but it will be harder to unscrew laying under the car when its really hot because i wouldnt want it to touch me of course.

I found a good place that does oil changes. Cost me $60 for Syntec change last time around. It's a performance maintenance shop, they work alot of maintaining race vehicles, and they know their stuff, so I trust them to do it.
But I know what D4u2s0t is saying, I wouldn't let the jiffy lube boys do it

yea its not that hard, and i woodnt change it when its super hot, like u just turned it off after drivin cross country. i'd let it cool a lil so u dnt burn urself. when i did mine i let it cool all the way down, cuz i did most of the work wit my hands without tools, but thats just my preference. but next time i think imma do it warm cuz.... i poured a whole 5 quarts of mobile 1 in and when i poured the bad oil back in the mobile 1 container, it wasnt all the way full. so maybe it just didnt drain enough. idk. just my 3 cents.

i normally only jack up the passenger side a little, and crawl under from the front, right next to the passenger side wheel.

seriously, if you're paying more than like 7 dollars you're getting way ripped off.
everyehwere i've ever been, walmart, several local stores, auto zone, etc, it hasn't been more than 5-10 dollars.

I change mine when the meter is at about 30% or so. I try to be consistent as much as possible. The 2.2 is REALLY easy to change. When I had my old 03 Cavalier I didn't have to jack mine up ether because I had a spot at the end of the drive way that aloud me to crawl under it and change it. With the fram drain plug kit it took no more than 5 mins and the only tool I needed was for the filter. The SS/SC takes a little bit longer but longer but not hard enough to pay some "skilled" luber to do it. I do it myself because I know it is dine right. Does anyone know if FRAM still make the drain plug kits? Those things work great when you are working on a hot car and help make less of a mess, funneling the mess easily into the oil drain.
I bought mine in bulk from crate engine depot. You get a better filter for less or about the same price($5.00) as the fram. It is AC Delco and if I am not mistaken that is the best filter you can get for this car.

My car is on sportlines and has a ss/sc bumper with lip on it. I have little problem getting a service jack under the front and jacking the entire car up
