A few of us guys from the Knoxville, Tn Area have decided to put a meet / cruise together, driving through some of the curviest roads in the area. I'm sure most of you have heard of The Dragon US129 318 Curves in 11 Miles, and The Cherohala Skyway a.k.a. the mile high legend, and Foothills Parkway. For any enthusiast Motorcycles, Cars, even vacationers these are some of the best roads in the east, and we just happen to live right in the heart of them.

The Meet will take place on Saturday, October, 18, 2008 @ 9:00AM @ Foothills Mall in Maryville, TN, we will promptly leave at 10:00AM for the cruise.

Locations @ Mall - Next to Sears across from Hastings in the big parking lot.

note: I fully plan on having a two way radio, yanno the ones you can pick up at walmart usually have a 2 - 5 mile range, at the meet those that bring one we can hook up on the same channel so that we at least have some form of communication in case something happens. I will be bringing two, one for myself as i'll lead the way and one for whoever is bringing up the rear if they don't have one with them. Just think this is the safest way to do this so that we all stay together.

Directions to Foothills Mall

The Cruise Route - Please Print, in case your running behind or want to meet us somewhere along the cruise you will know the route we are taking.

Stops Along the way:

• Tellico Plains, TN - To regroup and make sure everything is going okay.
• Gas Station on the skyway - I can't remember the exact location of this gas station but I will remember it when i see it, i'm pretty sure from the direction we are going that its at the end of the skway, it contains souvenirs for the skyway.
• Robbinsville, NC - some fast food restaurant more than likely bathroom breaks, lunch / snack.
• Fontana Dam - beautiful view of the damn dam.
• Hellbinder Gas Station - 28 Hellbender souvenirs.
• Deals Gap - Dragon Souvenirs
• Observation Tower Foothills Parkway - There is a huge parking lot that we can park in, its about a 1/2 mile hike up to the observation tower, but well worth the view, you can apparently see the crest of the earth, and what i mean by this is that typically you can see a horizon, this is one place were you can see beyond that on a clear day. 360 degree panaramic view of the mountians. I figured this would be a good time to stretch the legs if you don't feel like making the hike you can chill in the parking lot and body guard the cars lol. while we are hiking up we can figure out were we want to eat dinner in sevierville.
• Restaurant in Sevierville, TN - Dinner and to close out the meet.

according to google maps the whole trip should take about 6 hours, but i'd say with the stops we are looking at close to 8 hours give or take. So we should be in sevierville by 6PM at the latest i would think. Please allow for extra time in case something happens.

I figure most people need 2 or 3 weeks to ask off for work we are about 3 weeks out right now, so hurry up and ask off for work, the more people we have the better.

i emailed tail of the dragon.com to get us up on their calendar but it still not up yet i'll give it a few days and try again.

 

glad you're ahead of me on that, I was gonna suggest that someone get in touch and let them know we'd be through there. Maybe we can get some good shots of the rides as we roll through. I know another guy local w/ a Z and i'll see if he wants to go as well.

 

awesome like i said i emailed them but not sure the have gotten it... so i'll give it a few days and try again... it'd be nice to get quite a few people more... reguardless of car.

hey, also Fontana Dam may not be a bad stop to see. It's a pretty sweet view. What do you think about adding that to the list of stops.

 

i think i remember how to get down to fontana damn instead of going towards dragon you make a right the other direction just before hellbinder gas station i believe... ya we can add it...

PS COME ON YOU COBALT ENTHUSIAST we can't let the infamous 350z group overpower us @ our own meet lol.

I know exactly how to get to fontana dam. I worked over there for like a month in fontana putting in underground electric lines so I can get us there easy. the road turns off beside the deals gap gas station. I dont know if that's what you're callin the hellbinder gas station or not, but that's where it turns off. LOL man I know more balt owners than I do Z owners. There will probably be way more balts than Z's anyway

 

i was just teasing anyhow... we are coming into the dragon from the nc side after cherohala... look at the google map cruise route in firts post to see the direction we are going... im pretty sure it right before we get to the hellbinder gas station... u can click on the hellbinder gas station link up there to seea picture of the station im talking about.

i think its actually after hell binder gas station from the direction we are going... so i may have to rearrange the stop list up there... nope i was right dam comes before the gas station by the direction we are going... okay... that'll work out fine.

 

well that map just has me completely ass backwards so i'm with ya man. lol i'll just follow.

well i'm only familiar w/ the dragon and somewhat familiar w/ the robinsville area because I have a great aunt that lives over there

 

u'll love the skyway... its awesome and has some beautiful views... we'll make a few stops along their im sure for photos and the views.

 

sweet man i'm excited. I'd like to get my car lowered before then but I dont think it's gonna happen

 

im sure it'll handle pretty good on the stock suspension... im pretty excited too... its just gonna be so sweet to have a train going through the skyway and dragon.

 

yeah it does handle great as it is, but I figured that'd be a good break in drive for it if I could get it done

 

so bite the bullet and do it

 

money money money. First payment is the 16th and i'm short on cash after the downpayment so i'll just have to see how it goes between now and then. Gotta have a little cash on hand for the meet also for food, gas, or whatever else I may wanna pick up on the way along

 

i hear ya... my first payment is due on the 10th so i feel that... i've put close to 800 bucks into my car and not even made the first payment lol.

 

well I dumped all my extra cash in the downpayment so I aint really got **** to work with right the moment

 

a couple of guys from the Z forum may tag along and they were wondering where @ foothills mall we were planning to meet up. I didnt know so I figured a good place to meet would be in the big open area beside sears directly across from Hastings.
