Gulf Coast ECOtecs
im not wanting to spend over 12k but imma wait til i get home and pay cash for one. i found some really nice ones at some dealerships around that plus i can just offer cash and get it a little cheaper then i can buy some upgrades lol. but if u can find one cheaper that would be cool too but when its closer for me to get home tho. i appreciate ur help tho. but color dont matter to me but i really like the blue and the yellow ones. i like the recaro seats instead of the color matched ss seats. i think i saw the club at a car show at rnr

We don't speak of them.
We will be more than happy to welcome you into the club. Like Antwon said, we are here to help you out with your future purchase. There is a meet coming up on may 1st in Texas. Its called lonestar bash. Maybe you can make it.

he said he would be home in may so i'm doubting he will be able to make it to that but i guarentee there are things going on during the summer like last year with the lake front meet an all that
yeah i definately wont be home by the first itll be more toward the end of may. almost june. just in time for scrapin. i appreciate all your support tho. i should have one pretty much when i get home. ill drive a distance if i find one that really catches my eye. Definately goin to be a sc not turbo. the scd ones are way more efficient. but yall seem like cool people so far so i would be more than happy to join ur club.
**** with just a tune you can take the SS/TC to over 300WHP an 320TQ which would take a ton more to do in the SS/SC plus the SS/TC having the RPD, LSD, better axle alignment, Launch Control, NLS
the only downfalls are the
1.tires(which is pretty much the downfall of all performance cars when u first get them
2. The transmission which alot of people seem to be having problems with but they are replaceable under warrenty so no biggie there i guess
all in all the SS/TC is way better and more efficient in my book
to each his own. im not a turdo fan. sounds like a honda thing to me. a sc is a safer hp adder as far as boost goes. then u have turbo lag. that supercharger will get u everytime off the line. so i still say the sc is more efficient. wats everbody else's feed on the subject?
whats your name i got a buddy thats in the same battalion as u
i have a 2.8 pulley and am about at the limit for my SC efficientcy and making maybe 235WHP an turbo lag on the tiny turbo on the TC which i believe is a K04 is tiny an with the launch control an LSD on the TC the SC wont really get it off the line cuz u have to be careul not to launch to hard cuz the instant torque from the SC makes you spin your tires so easy
how bout u buy a SS/TC an ill trade u my SC lol
but honestly u can't beat the whine from the SC

I'm with Anthony on this. We can't really compare the lnf and the lsj. Two different engines. When talking blower and turbo efficiency on the lsj, however, a turbo does much better and is easier to get any power level you want. You're basically limited to 300 horses with the stock m62 and no nitrous. Add a moderate shot of nitrous, do some head work, full bolt ons/cooling mods, and run a decent sized pulley (basically an efficient stock blower build) and you will see mid to upper 300's.
It all really depends on what YOU want and expect from your car. In the end, it may out run certain v8's and be a pretty mean 4 cylinder, but its still a cobalt and has its own place in the car scene. All of us understand that and have made a pretty good name for ourselves around here because of it.
Anyways, we aren't as active as we are when we first started up. Rnr kinda burned us out on car shows and gatherings, but we still like to get together on the weekends as friends, bull **** on the internet, and run a race or two now and then. We like to try to attend all of the big events as a club. We was offered a killer deal on the lone star bash thing, that's the only reason some of us are gonna try to go.
We do photo shoots 3 or 4 times a year. Its just another way for us to get together again, talk cars, and take some nice pictures. Rusty is our camera guy. You won't find a better one around than him. Plus he doesn't charge us anything to do it.
All in all we are a very chill group. We don't all live in gulfport, which is why we don't hang out every weekend, along with various other reasons.
Some of the events we go to is of course scrapin and cruisin the coast. New Orleans street racing.org puts on a meet every year called lake front meet. We like going to that. We try to hold our own meet about once a year. At the beginning of this year we had a fun meet at the USS Alabama in mobile. We are gonna start planning one very soon to go meet some of our friends in Florida again and chill there for a weekend. We have affiliates in new Orleans as well. Those are just a few things we do as a club.
Of course if you have any questions about anything car related you can ask us. Between Adam, Anthony, Aaron, Dustin and myself we have enough experience to probably help you out with anything when it comes time to do so.
Like Anthony said a couple of us are about to start builds. I believe he was talking about Adam and I. We like to try to be neck and neck with each other when it comes to performance. We like helping each other out. We are basically a group of good friends that happen to like and have the same cars...
Sorry for the rant. That's basically what we are all about. Now I gotta let me fingers rest for typing all of this on my blackberry ha ha

that all sounds good to me. every since ive been lookin into gettin one ive planned a build also. build the motor from bottom up, stage 2 and 3 upgrade, water meth kit, lightweight flywheel, lsd, stage 3 clutch, headers, 3 in exhaust, better spark and ignition, ground kit, and of course all the usual bolt ons. but its all time and money. and 50 shot nitrous
sounds good man....if u find a ss/sc with the G85 package you'll have LSD already plus the Recaro seats which are nice but I'd avoid the lightweight flywheel dutin (ssscs10) on here was talkin about how they aren't good but ill let him see this an chime in on exactly why
you'll like upgrading the spark/ ignition cuz the whole system is good except the plugs when you drop pulley sizes so u spend like $5 for some NKG's an your good lol

good thing ill have some balt veterans. appreciate all the info. ill definately take advice but im goin to try and push for the 500hp mark by the end of my build with the sc system. just takes time. different axles for sure.
nah ant u got me confused with trey or aaron i think it was... i LOVE my lightweight flywheel. if he's plannin on doin a build a lightweight flywheel will be ballanced into the weight of the crank. so would be perfect. ALOT of people that say they are bad say that bc they arent calculated into the crank, hence the vibs. when i say calculated in am referrin to balanced.
when i put my flywheel on it was a difference of gettin smoked by a modded poostang gt vs keepin up with him.

well i will def do the flywheel thing and i will be asking for advice through out the whole build. im goin to be new at the sssc thing. i was into acura and hondas and want to make a change. to much drama in the honda scene. but i def want gce to be a part of my build and if yall want to get some jackets made i have a hook up at a embroadary place and a decal shop too. just suggestions tho.
still on the 2nd clutch. i brought it to professionals.... i thought they would know what the hell they was doin for as much money as i was payin them but apparantely not.
i got a friend thats huge into the dumb ass hondas and he's always buyin **** and still cant compare to my car when it was bone stock.

I have read different opinions on lightweight flywheels. Good and bad. But that's just like lightweight crank/alternator/ac condensor pulleys. I won't go into what I've heard. I don't like giving my opinion on something I haven't tried.
You'll definitely need nitrous to reach 500 whp. And it all sounds fine and dandy now, but 99% of Cobalt owners will tell you that reaching that goal on the stock blower is impossible. Honestly, that's quite a high number, but I won't say it's impossible. With the many different ways to mod the LSJ now, getting there (or at least close to it) shouldn't be too difficult.
Here's what I know. Reaching 300 whp with the stock blower is a challenge. Some people are having problems reaching 300-350 with an upgraded blower without nitrous. The highest stock blower wheel horse power numbers I've seen is about 375whp/400 wtq. And that was with nitrous. ZZ Performance just developed their 2.3l stroker block this year for the LSJ and made around 350 whp with it, no nitrous.
The only 500+whp numbers I've seen is with a turbo. ZZP's LNF makes over 500 whp. I think 1 or 2 LSJ's have seen it. Lots and lots of money involved there my friend.
