Info on the Stage 1 Kit
I was on the phone all day yesterday trying to find out where that Stage 1 kit is for the 08-09 Cobalt SS/TC. I finally found someone that new and told me the whole reason why its not out yet. He said that it is not out yet because when putting that kit on the Cobalt the airbox coundn't handle it. So they have to either figure out why its only happening on the cobalt. So he said that they will prolly sell the kit with upgraded air intake(cold air intake) because you will need it with the kit. He said that the kit should be out by the end of JUne or sooner.

I heard that you get a better 60 ft time with that and no one cant tell that your a SS by the intercoller in the front.
i would rather do that but i am a full-time student that needs his warranty.

thats not proven, they can most certainly tell that your car has been re-flashed, and with out proof or service reciets that a dealer did this, they could get you.

i have had my ss/sc05 with a tune at the stealership a few time sine a tune they never new it, and my 09 has been in te stealership as well. they cant tell casue they didnt even know, there scanners cant tell if your ecu was flashed
I apologize for the rudeness of the first post...I was just tired of seeing the same info over and over, but whatever, no biggie.
As far as debadged, I do that because I prefer the look of a car with no badges or trim, plus it makes it just a tiny bit easier to wax.
And as far as spending money on an aftermarket performance tune, true that they make better power, but there are some of us (like myself) who are tired of throwing money at cars for repairs (as the car is not exactly appreciating in value) therefore we prefer to retain our warranty. From what I've read, there's something (perhaps BCM?) that can read the last 15 tunes or something? I'd rather not mess with the car until the warranty is up. After that, it's ***** out performance until the engine decides it's had enough.
To say I don't care about performance mods is exactly opposite of how I think. If it weren't for the stock power and future potential for the SS/TC, I would not go near a Cobalt with a 10 foot pole. GM base car quality is **** IMO (I've owned a couple), but the performance was enough to justify the purchase.

no they cant there tech2 cant tell you were flashed they only check for errors in you ecu and dont read parameters of your ecu, i use to work for a stealship you cant tell, but either way its your car do what you want im just teling you theres other ways of going about stuff, if i were you i wouldnt by a gm stage kit, there over priced and are crap. but im not going to argue with a forum junk on what someone can an cant do.

its all good. I understand where you are coming from on the waxing part. I would like to go with a Dejon tune or whatever is out there but since i am paying to go to college i will just pay the extra at the dealership and keep my warranty. If they do it they know why you are getting. Everyone wants to go faster and everyone likes to beat ppl.
beeing reflashed and what the flash pertain are two total different things. they wont ask question bout that. the tech2's will only show that as the ecu was read not reflashed
read the fine print casue i dont know what you have to go threw for emissions les you know a way around were you live system, you wount pass emissions with the stage kits, and read the fine print on the warranty part you'd be suprized on what they mean by you still have a warranty

stage 3 is off road use only. stage 1 and stage 2 are the same exact tune just a different pulley and both have a CARB EO# so yes they will pass unless you have a mechanical issue
