Arizona BS Thread
So my wifes car, 05 Nissan Altima, has been randomly just shutting off for a second then kicking right back on. I immediately thought crankshaft sensor. She said it was replaced by the dealer about 4 years ago. I thought Weird that a 6 year old car would go through 2 crank sensors so I investigated. Turns out there is a recall for the issue she is having.
Summary:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE, THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CAN OVERHEAT CAUSING A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR.
Consequence:
IF THE INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL FROM THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS SO BRIEF THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) LOGIC DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE CONDITION, THE ENGINE MAY STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT A LOW SPEED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE ECM FREE OF CHARGE. CERTAIN MY 2006 ALTIMAS WHICH HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY REMEDIED UNDER RECALL CAMPAIGN 06V223 (NISSAN R0606) ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL SINCE THE REPROGRAMMING FOR 06V223 ALSO INCLUDED THIS REPROGRAMMING. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 31, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
So my BS of the day:
I called Midway Nissan because that is where she had her sensor fixed for 300 dollars and asked to see if they had record of them "fixing" the sensor because we cant find the paperwork for it. Of course the dealers systems purge the info on cars that dont return to that same dealer after 1 year, or so they say. I was hoping they would have the record and maybe get her money refunded since they found it to be a recall item later on but no records....
Anywho I talked to some idiot in the service department telling him the problem that the car is having and that I need the recall work done since that is what is causing the issue. He said it would be a 120 diagnostic fee to make sure that is the problem and if it is a failed sensor they will fix it and them perform the ECU reprogram. I said NO, the sensor is not failing it is just getting overheated like the bulletin states for the recall and all it needs is the reprogram. He gave me some crap that it has nothing to do with the program the sensors fill with oil and that causes the issue. (All this was happening in the car coming home so I didnt have the paper I printed to read it word for word for the idiot) So I tried stating that the recall reprograms the ECU so the car doesnt shut down if the signal is lost (it must use the cam sensor for position if the signal from the crank sensor is not shown or something in that area briefly until the crank sensor shows signal again) but the ass hat cut me off in mid sentence telling me it is an issue with the sensor and has nothing to do with the recall... I argued and tried repeating myself on what the actual recall is but he kept interupting and telling me otherwise so I finally told him to **** off and hung up.
I am so ******* irritated. I called her actual dealer since Midway was not going anywhere and they set up a service appointment for the recall to fix it saying the issue I am having sounds exactly like the recall. Wow great customer service over Midway.
Who the **** gives that ass hat the right to argue with a customer. They get paid for the recall work no matter what... Why the **** not do it and stop ******* arguing with me when you have no ******* idea what you are talking about..... ugh

Not sure on inlet, Dood said it was 3" and it fit on my car which is 2.5", it has a 4.5 outlet, all stainless with titanium tip, some scuffs and scrapes but over good condition, it has greddy logo on both sides of the tip and greddy logo on the bottom of the canister
Like I said I'm down for offers. I'd get rid of it cheaper since I can just meet you, let me know man I'd rather have the cash.
So i had my boost in 2nd gear turned down a little, still spin a weee bit but itll save my tires for now
Im not sure if i want to stay with it yet so we'll see haha

Damn...hopefully not down too long. Haven't really had a chance to enjoy the 2.7 yet!
So...just stumbled across something for anyone with an Android phone.
First, look up the Torque app in the market. Then go to Amazon and get one of these -
Amazon.com: ELM327 BLUETOOTH OBDII OBD2 DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER VAG-COM CAN ELM 327 SCANTOOL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAR CODE READER: Electronics
Reviews are overwhelmingly positive and this seems much cheaper and easier to connect and use than your typical Interceptor, Scan Gauge, etc.
