Firebird Friday

So friday I went to Firebird with Kate.

MY best E/T was a 14.8, at about 98mph. These things pull real hard, but get horrible traction.

I got a reaction time of 0.009, which was the best of the night until Kate ran and got a 0.002. She set the best reaction time of the night, with me second I believe.

Traction is a serious issue with these cars. Nothing some urethane motor mounts, control arm bushings, and stickier rubber can't fix.

Anyone suggest Torque braces. The wheel hop was horrible at the top pf first gear.

The Ingalls is supposedly the best, but with the motor and trans mounts you shouldn't need it. They should also provide better results than the brace.

Actually, I wouldn't go with the ZZP motor mount, just the trans mounts. Bulldog71ss had one and sent it back because it did nothing to help the wheel hop. He said it felt just like it did stock.

The brace should be enough for stock, from what I've heard...plus it's relatively cheap and super easy to install. Once you start dropping in the power mods, though, the torque brace will not be enough.

I know you're planning some mods, so perhaps start with the brace, and go from there.

I did more than plan mods. I've already for an exhaust, and half of stage 3 installed. Today I'm supposed to get the supercharger pulley installed, and that will complete stage 3.

When I went on friday I had nothing other than a magnaflow exhaust.

After I got home that night I put in the 42.5lb injectors the autolite spark plugs and the stage 3 PCM. Today I will hopefully get the 2.8" pulley setup on there. And trying to do the airbox mod soon too.

When did you run the 14.8 was it pretty late? When I ran my 14.8 I only went 96 mph! That was with racing gas too, it was around 90 degrees and really dusty though, vipers were struggling to get in the 12s! I'm just wondering cause people are running high 14s at 98-99 mph, and I run high 14s at 96 I think there might be something wrong with my car.

It was around 1030pm and the temp out there was around 102*

I was usuing VP101 octane. SO hot that the evo's were in the 14's and the viper was in the 12's too. Everyone was claiming to be running about a half second slower.

We need alcohol injection to cool airtemps down big time.

It would sounds like a murderer chasing someone with a chainsaw for a 1/4mile. These cars don't sounds pretty when you open them up.

I was thinking more along the lines of the collection of 10-second cars that show up there.

Is VP101 unleaded? When I ran the 14.8 I was on like 90% C10 (104 unleaded), and still only ran 96 mph! Pissed me off, I got an opposite factory freak, its unusually slow instead of fast!!!

Ok fine, I'll sell you the intake!!! For $350 plus a $100 uninstallation fee, and a $50 performance loss fee.
