Speedworld - Thursday July 7
Speedworld - Thursday July 7
I'm going to be heading out to Speedworld w/ my SRT-4 this Thursday Night to do some tweaking and trying to put down decent #'s with my DOT Slicks.

Gates open at 6pm, and they usually start running cars down the track at about 7pm. I'll be there at 6 so I can get the tires changed and let the car cool down a bit before the racing starts.

No one? Sheesh.. I know it's "hot" and all but Speedworld is out in the desert and it actually cools off pretty good once the sun goes down. And sure it's not the best weather for the best times (that'll come in Oct/Nov), but it does give ya some seat time at the local dragstrip.
It's only 15 miles from Luke AFB too. If you don't know how to get there:
Head North West on Grand Ave, through Surprise, past the 303 interchange to Happy Valley Rd. Turn Left on Happy Valley Rd, follow the curve around and look for the Speedworld sign on the right side of the highway about 1/2 mile past the 50mph speed limit sign.

During the summer months it's $20 to race and all of your friends (as many as you can fit in your car) can ride in with you for free.

It cooled off pretty nice last night once the sun set. There were quite a few cars out, most of them in the 13.5 to 15.0 range, with a few quicker cars scattered in there. Here's the best time slip from last night (driven by a friend of mine who's passes down the 1/4 mile measure in the thousands):
R/T: .529 (Sportsman Tree, .500 = perfect)
60': 2.049
330': 5.559
1/8: 8.226@94.738
1000': 10.451
1/4: 12.421@119.284
My best time of the night:
R/T: .462 (Red)
60': 2.020
330': 5.503
1/8: 8.241@90.756
1000': 10.489
1/4: 12.503@116.381

There was also a Stock SRT-4 there running 14.2's to 14.4's... IIRC his fastest slip was a 14.22 and his slowest was a 14.43... He is pretty consistant w/ his car, I keep trying to get him to bracket race. Speaking of which, I went to last night's bracket racing... and once again lost in the first round. I had the boost turned down, hoping I'd be more consistant, dialed in a 12.90 and ran a 12.960 my opponent dialed in a 16.20 and ran a 16.217 and she beat me on R/T as well.
