A Few Questions For My CA .NET Homies..

Hey guys.. I might be moving to the LA area in a few years.. So I've got a few car related questions for you guys..

1. I don't know how your inspections work out there, but are they dicks when it comes to mods? I'm not boosted or anything, but I have a few n/a mods, as well as I'll have a few more by then.. Don't want to do all this work and some douche-bag force me to take the **** off or something..

2. Will I have to do something for the CA emissions or anything? I have the GMPP exhaust..

3. Are cops really ******** about mods and "tuner" cars? I don't drive like an ass so I doubt I'll have a huge issue.. At least in Pittsburgh, you don't be an ass, they won't be either..

4. Do shops charge a fortune to work on your car, especially around the city? I like how I can kinda work on my own car with the Cobalt.. I want to get a BMW 3 or a Saab 9-3 next, but I'm afraid shops will rape me, out there especially..

5. Is traffic really as bad as they say it is? lol. That'd be the one plus for getting an auto.. LA traffic.. lol.

More to come probably.. Help out a .NET pal!

Ok man I'll try to help u out since no one else is. I have lived here since 92, I travel down to L.A. at least 3 times a month for doctors app., and I am also a studying criminal justice major and starting the academy in spring.

1.Ok depends on who pulls u over. The cops not really they have more important things to do but CHP on the other hand thanks that anyone that has a tuner car is a street racer. not true. Only mods u'd get in trouble for are ones they can see. CAI, meth, aftermarket turbo, NOS, Exhaust too loud. Now mind u there are not illegal but they will write u a ticket. If u go to the state referee he will sign it off. Meth injection is legal, NOS is illegal but he can't write u a ticket if the bottle is not in ur car, Turbo and CAI are both legal as long as they have C.A.R.B numbers and exhaust has to meet the 95 dba level. Put it this way a 5hp briggs and stranton lawnmower at full throttle is 91 dba.

2.I don't believe u will have to do anything emissions wise. I have the GMPP exhaust too which is legal but i think i read something about a CA admissions overide. Ask ur local dealer they could answer that.

3.Refer to ? 1. They like to pull over the SS's. The regulat cobalts though no. Just don't be an ass.

4. Shops are usually fair just have to find the good ones just like any other state. avg. rates for labor are 65- 95 dollars an hour.

5.Depends on where u are moving to bro. Tell me where and i can tell u about traffic.

haha It's funny because I've been in all sorts of traffic before.. But Pittsburgh has the gayest ass traffic in the world.. lol. LA traffic is caused by so many damn people.. Pittsburgh traffic is caused by road work on every road in the area and stupid drivers panic-ing as soon as they see one orange cone. It's insane. Glad to get a little input.. Honestly, I figured the shop fee would be higher.. But that's why I'm keeping the Cobalt for awhile.. I like being able to work on it myself..

Traffic here isn't caused only by so many people, but road work as well. Yay for Cal trans, even tho they do try to work at night sometimes, no matter what time of day you go on the 5, 101, 10, 405, or any freeway heading through LA or Hollywood, it's going to suck.

if you're asking about traffic, just know that my 20 mile commute sometimes takes me an hour and a half.

Honestly, that's how Pittsburgh is. The problem is that the only way to get to the city from the West or the North is over the bridges. Pittsburgh has the largest number of bridges than any area in the world. Honestly. lol. It's a fact. And with the city being 80% surrounded by water, it has the same problem as NYC. Everyone has to go one of two ways. So it makes for a serious hassle. Then there are a few other turn offs and a couple tunnels that for some reason confuse everyone..? I don't get it. But that's just how it is.. I'm not far from the city. It's a 10 minute drive via the highway with no traffic. But as mentioned an hour to an hour and a half in morning/evening traffic. It's ridiculous.
