HP Tuning in Vegas!!!

Ok folks I have had some interest in the Vegas area. I am going to try and get out there in the end of February if anyone is interested let me know. I will be trying to get at least 8 people, the more the better. But 5 is kinda my minimum to go over there. I use Terminator2 on here for tuning. He can do LNFs, LSJs, LS block V8... basically anything with an OBD2 port that is supported by HPtuners.

Specifics for the LNF guys:
#1) Have your car in good repair. No CEL lights on would be a great help since diagnosing and repairs take alot of time when I have limited 2 days for tuning
#2) Depending on your tune, have a clutch already put in. Most of the tunes that Terminator will send me will make your stock clutch slip especially an E85/91 octane mix tune. A clutch that is slipping will show false knock on the computer and the ECU will retard timing and cut power. So we wont be able to get it totally dialed in.
#3) I will need a list of everyone that wants to get their car tuned. I will keep a running list on this original post. I will need a list of performance parts that you will be running at the time of tuning, how aggressive of a tune you want, and what fuel you would like to run.

The tune will be $500 per person... if there are 8 or more, I'll do $450 per person. Prices will be different for any LS or LT block V8s. Call or email for a quote on them.

The tune includes retunes for future mods, HP credits and Terminator2's time. Ideally it would be nice if you would do a bunch of mods at once so I don't have to drive 6 hours out to Vegas every weekend to do everyone's different logs.

Like any modifications to cars, you will be doing this at your own risk. Modifying a car with a tune or anything else for that matter, relies on your own ability to keep the car in running order after the tune or mod is done. Have your car in good repair before the tune (i.e. no leaks, fresh oil, fresh trans oil if possible, good tires and good brakes so you don't kill me and you while logging).

If you have any questions at all let me know. I work nights so texting or calling late at night isn't the problem, its the middle of the day that wakes me up lol...

Oh and also- if you are having a problem with your car and can't figure out whats wrong, I will run logs and check codes for you, that is free, but if a quick solution can't be found, we will have to tune another time.

UPDATE 01/11/2012: Price will now be $450 for everyone regardless of how many people are tuned. The dates will be the days of the Sin City Bailout. I will try to work it out so I get a Friday through Monday weekend so everyone can get tuned. That is 4 months away so get your cars ready and lets get tuning fellas.

The List:

1) Chris Warner
2) Joe Warner
3) brainchasm
4) Nick
5) Cole
6)
7)
8)

I am in, guaranteed.

See my sig for what's installed.

CAI is in a box in my garage, can be installed prior to your arrival.

Looking for 22-23psi, raised rev limiter, cat-warmup delete, bah, we can go over all of it at the time.

As far as fuel, I would like to go E85 I think, but if it won't handle it (and I won't be butthurt if it doesn't...I prefer safe over sorry), going E47/50 is fine.

Hoping to hit 350whp with tune, fuel, and intake. Brakes are fresh, tires are fair to decent.

Future mods will be ZZP cams, springs, whatever I need to keep from cracking a ring land, and the BW EFR turbo from ZZP.

Excellent... You will most certainly need to go with the E85/91 mix tune. There aren't a whole lot of benefits of going more E85 than that on a stock turbo, from all accounts of guys that have run higher %.

Also, and I can't stress this enough, a stock clutch will most likely not be able to handle the power of an Ethanol tune. That is something you might want to look into upgrading first. The rest of the car seems to be ready for a tune, wait til I get out there to put on the intake so you don't throw off fuel trims which can lower fuel economy.

RRM,

I thought the stock clutch was good to 350/350?

I'm not going to be able to swing a clutch purchase and install before you get here...that being said, if we get the tune to that point, I'll make it a point to not get on it hard/often until I get a clutch.

KY six-pucks still a good way to go?

Ky clutch would be my option also, with e85/91 mix your gonna cross 400tq if that's your goal.

$500 is pretty good looking at 300$ for a tune from one of the best on Css then 100 for credits and 100 for someone to come here just to tune you. No one in Vegas has hpt other than sin city performance who has never touched a cobalt and they want about 650$ for a base tune

Looking at my mods, a 22-23psi tune, and E47, my math says I should ideally hit 350wtq/350whp.

Am I missing numbers somewhere?

Saving my dreams of 450/450 for the turbo/cams/etc that I mentioned above.

Dates aren't concrete yet. I am still getting a feel for how many and when is a good time. Ideally it would be done before it gets too hot out, so hopefully before May or so. Its really up to you guys to decide when is best and then let me know.

Also, on an ethanol tune you will be pushing over 400lbs/feet of torque to the ground. our clutch is rated to like 350lbs/feet at the crank. Mine would slip on my 91 tune so I hooked it up with a new one. Really its up to you guys on how you want you car set up. I can only make recommendations base on how my car performs and what I have learned about this platform on here and through others. I am making the recommendation because I want everyone to be happy with the tune and I don't want a thread to go up in the LNF section saying 'RyRidesMotoX is a dick and busted my car' or something to that effect lol... not saying any of you would do that, I just want to make sure.

Like I said above, I can get a few days off whenever. When will you be able to do it? I want to do as many people as possible so I can make it easy. And Sin City Bailout is coming in May I think. I'll be trying to make that this year. So If we do it around the same time I think that would work out well.

Lets get 8 people and save you another 50 bucks. To be honest $500 is a little steep compared to a canned tune or trifecta. But a GMS1 tune and sensors are like 700 I think, also it is a very conservative tune that still has knock retard when you go WOT which is not good. Trifecta is 200-300 depending on options and if you are going to keep the cable, and Vince takes forever to get back to you sometimes, and his tunes, while safe, aren't taking your car to it's full potential. Trifecta tunes are always too rich. Canned tunes, like a Superchips or a Hahn tuner, are good but they are not tuned to your car and options.

Honestly with HP tuners, you are using what the fastest cars on here are using. From one of the 2 best tuners on here. And it will be a very safe tune. I drive my car rather spiritedly most of the time. I have 0KR on my ethanol mix and 91 octane tunes. I have been running them for about 25,000 miles with no problems on stock plugs and MAP sensors (granted I would make sure the plugs are gapped properly at a .030-.032). Also when I keep my foot out of it and cruise at 65-70mph I am getting 28-33mpg. It is hard not to fall into the temptation of a little BOV next to people's open windows lol

My buddy just ran on a dyno and pt down 412 lbs feet to the wheels.

That is also on an LNF, a Sky redline with RWD and a truck transmission... We are getting alot of power to the ground with an 'E47' tune. Even being very careful, his clutch was slipping.

Alot of clutch slip will be mitigated using a smooth roll on with the power pedal, which we will do during tuning if you dont have a new one. Just bear in mind that the tune is pushing your car past the point where the clutch is effective. I just wanted people to be aware of that first, so proper measures can be taken.

Also when you get the new turbo heads and cam, which I also want to do, let me know. We should be able to get around 550whp on srtiaght E85 with a properly sized turbo

Not sure who that is but normally dyno tunes are a ton of money for exactly the same thing. They will start at $300-$400 then add in $100-$150 per hour and look at around 2-3 hours. Also most shops have very little experience with tuning an LNF. I don't know who LEP is but maybe they have experience with it.

with my trifecta tune hitting about 24lbs on 91 with my mods in sig i am sitting pretty close to that 350tq mark and with HPT i will guarantee more power specially if you throw in some E85 thats a easy 400tq. MDUB in colorado at 5000+ elevation hit just over 410tq with e47 and a drop in filter no other mods with HPT granted he was hitting i think close to 27lbs, just shows potential of a good tuner with HPT

im pretty sure Mike wasnt on E47 in colorado bro i think it was just 91. MDUB tuned him. I think he was at like 25psi. probably ALOT of timing. Term2 is a really good tuner, **** Brianchasm on my LNF right now with bolt ons and a CONSERVATIVE Trifecta 23psi tune im running 330whp/340tq on 92 oct. on E47 people see close to 400 all day. with the Term2 HPT i can honestly say u will easily see 350/350 i expect more like 360-370tq and maybe like 350hp from the Term 2 91 tune
