Might transfer to So. Cal.
Hey guys,
I was just offered a new position with my company and I would have to move to Redlands, California. I am pretty excited because I have lived in/outside Atlanta for all of my life. I have been doing some research and the cost of living seems to be even more than I had expected. I just purchased my first home and I do not want to rent again. I bought my condo here in Atlanta for $99,000 which was a steal- 1 bedroom @ 1100 sq. ft. The condos I have researched around the Redlands area are about 250 sq. ft. smaller than mine and about double the price.
So, I was wondering if anyone can provide some insight on what it's like to live in the area. Is the cost of living dramatically more in all aspects, or is it just real estate? My company has been getting me cheap- I only make about 45k at this point. I was thinking about asking for 75k a year to move there- would that make for a decent living, or would I be borderline poverty? Until the past year I had barely made it by and I do not want to go back to barely being able to cover basic expenses. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I just had a meeting and I will have a proposal package offer tomorrow. I'll know then what all they will offer and then I can start bargaining. I am not going unless I can make a decent living to start off with.
