Suggestions on fix it ticket

I did a forum search but came up with too many results to search through.

I was stopped today and issued a fix-it ticket for my window tinting. I am well aware of the laws and the consequences for a repeat offense if ever stopped for still having the tinted fronts. I know I can just pay the fine. Who here has had this happen to them? What did you do? Are there any good ways to skirting the citation?

Yes, I am an immoral person with a complete disregard for the law.

there really is no way to get out of it. The only way is if you maybe go to a eye doctor and tell him the lights from oncoming cars at night gives you migraines and what he can do about it. Mine did some test and said i have light sensitive eyes and told me i could tint my windows at what ever i want in the car and gave me a form to take to the mva. I did it for a while and had all my windows tinted but i just gave up because i got sick of being pulled over even thou i was aloud to have it

lol nice

2 things.

one. hit up Hot Rod Cop on here and ask him to write off ur ticket

2. take the tint off and take it to the judge

3. fight it. cop might now show. lol

4. go to ur tint guy and get the bare minimum. (70% i believe)

If you have pics of the car with no tint print it up and bring them down to the clerks office. You just have to pay a fine and that's it. Make sure they can see your plate in the pic.

ok to u drew, and u ryan dnt listen to any of these guys. I am a criminal justice major. I know the laws in cali hell me and my proffessor pent a whole day discusing laws related to modifying vehicles. God I love pissing cops off that I know more than.lol. There is no tint allowed on the front windows in california period. No matter what percent. As for getting it sign ed off the only way to do it is either know a cop or get the tint removed usually cost ya 10-20 bucks going to any peace officer chp, local cops, whatever. They will sign the ticket off and than u send the ticket in with 25 bucks for processing fee. Dont put the tint back on untill u call and make sure ur payment has processed. Once it has it erases the ticket outta the system and if u get pulled over again its just another fix it ticket. If u leave it on if i remember my fine right it was like 245 bucks or somtin and techniqually if the cop wants to be a dick if u keep driving the vehicle with a fix it ticket outstanding on it and u get pulled over for the same thing again it now becomes a moving violation and a pretty big fine. Sorry man. Unless u can get ur dr. to sign off on tint like I have.lol. But I think in cali if with that sign off legal is only 70%. As for u ryan I'd fight that ticket in court. They have to give a fix it in subject to u moving. They cant prove that vehicle is driven on the road without the plate

oh and no offense to steve but no tint allowed on the front windows in cali and a fix it ticket the officer does not have to show up for

heres what I did

I took off my front tint 5% and let the front windows have no real tint , in my state the law is 35% , so I went to wally world and bought the shitty limo stick tint they had and did my front windows myself with 1/16th of a roll , now when I get pulled over I just peel it back and away it goes , I say officer I dont have tint its a sticker .... I have been pulled over once and I told the cop I can just rip it off he said " no no no , thats quite alright just be careful on the highway , if they highway patrol gets ya , its a bigger fine"

plus the REALLY cool thing about that **** is , it's so dark that on the outside you cant see air bubbles if you **** up the tint , so dont think " I cant do that , tinting is hard" it takes a razorblade , patience and a hairdryer and squeegee

OK, so is there any sort of test that the police use to check tinting? Or is it just something they are allowed to eyeball? So what you are saying is to remove the tint which costs $$$? Then have an officer inspect it and sign off on it then pay the processing fee of $25 then when that is clear up pay to once agian have the tint placed back on which will cost more $$$? Or is the removing and replacing covered under warranty?

Next year I either start studying criminal justice at SDSU or public law at UCSD. We'll see.

is states that allow some percent of tint they have tint readers but in cali all they have to do is look and see u have tint because it's illegal.Un fortunately man the removal and putting back onn is ur only option unless u know a cop to sign it off as for being under warranty u need to check with the shop who did ur windows. some shops do like 40 bucks to pull it for a ticket and than reapply it. i doubt it'll be free though

It would really hurt to get a second fix-it ticket on something like this. The fine increases the second time around. Penalties increase for each occurrence and so do the points on your driving record.

I'll just take it in and get the tint replaced with "legaler" ones. Thanks for your help.

ok so I'm going to play the helpless female card on this one.. i bought my car brand new in 07 its the 2.4 L ss and got pulled over today for window tint violation. The tint on my car came stock. The limit in Indiana is 30% my tint is 23%.... but why the hell would GM put illegal tint on cars since my research is showing the legal limit in most states is above 23%. is there anyway around this law since I had nothing to do with the tint thats on my car?

Yes, you're right. You do not get points for repeat occurrences but the fine does increase and if you ignore that you can lose your driver's license. Beyond that the state has the authority to start garnishing your wages to pay for any unpaid fines. So the best thing to do is to remove the tint get the ticket signed off on and pay the processing fee.
