Are these things fast?

With the stage 2 motor, which the Fire Bird has they're pretty quick. Get an aftermarket race engine and a litium battery upgrade they'll do about 35 to 40 mph! Is that fast enough?

evo uses a newer chassis and parts are easier to find
gen 1 parts are some what rarer and a lil harder to come by but you can still find parts for them online

 

So are both of these Gen 1?

Its a different chassie design. The biggest difference is with the Gen 1 you have to remove the body for a battery swap where as with the EVO chassie the batteries go on the bottom.

As for the cost of mods its the same as for your Cobalt. Some stuff is cheap some is pricy, it all depends on what YOU want to do with it. But the litium batteries are like $20-$30 and race motos can be had for around the same price. Wheels will set you back about $10 - $15 a pack of 2, tires are like $5 - $10 for a pack of 2.

No just the Supra is a Gen1, The Fire Bird is the EVO chassie.
