lol bad tom ::smack smack::
i havnt done 100 in over a few months
It is easy to hit 100 in our cars people act like ya can smoke a carton of cigarettes before ya hit the governor..
I need to call GM performance about the limiter reving to 7k without problems.. I dont no offhand what our cams get the most power out of rev wize..
I dont think 7k reving would hurt us to bad.. My gauge is a tad bit off due to putting 18s on compared to my old 15s.. I heard gm has a switch or something that can tell your car what rims are on to fix the speedo

Its not a switch, its a reprogram. I performed that reprogram to my own car a few months ago. The LS's comes with tires rated at 112 mph max, some LT's come with tires rated at 130 mph. What you do is put the LT program into the LS and bam, you just raised your gov. As far as reving to 7 grand the stock manifold on a 2.2 isnt designed for it, spining that fast would require the 2.4 manifold swap to get the best results. Crate Engine Depot posted the dyno results compairing stock vs the 2.4 manifold. The stock 2.2 stops making power around 5 grand.

its not that hard to hit speed limiter on a 2.2..where do you all get the misconception that 2.2l cobalts are so incredibly slow...they arent as fast as an sc...but they are fast enough....in fact, mine has more whp, tq, and is faster then a stock 2.4....it can be done and they are close to begin with when stock...
Your joking right?

where does he live??? i live in NY. i got a 2007 wit manual transmission (im guessing thats the e37) and as far as performance alls i have at the moment is a cold air intake (but i think that would be good as a tester because they he can see what kinda power he can get out of a stock - or close to stock - car)
sorry for the late reply, had work and was in jersey

i didnt mean a reprogram for the govenor, i meant one for the rim size, someone on here has had it done through GM.
Tom is there a update though Vince i never got to call him today, one of them days..
i dont personally plan to boost up my rev limiter yet as i dont want to take a chance of hurting the manifold.. i dont understand how sucking in air quick through the manifold has much to do with going from 6500 to 7k. i no its there but me personally, i dont understand how that works..
I aint getting the 2.4 mani.. I am getting hahns portfueler, just waiting to see how he will have it fitted and how the 2.2 charge piping wont interfere with it like in the pictures..

case in point: i never said it was hard to hit speed limiter. i asked when you'd be doing it legally. and your answers clearly highlighted my point. never.

oo ok bud
when you going to his shop to dyno?
EDIT: bc3 have you read all my posts, i will be slapping a turbo in there, and it will have a fully built motor down the road, i think i could easily hit 108 governor down the road on a strip easily with 300ish hp which i am going by.
If your going to bash us for helping everyone here and trying to make a difference in our cobalt community, you can take your negativity elsewhere.

these posts coming from guys who've done nothing, to a guy who's done something. looks like some ppl haven't read my sig.

you're not going to hit the speed limiter on a dyno - you (should) dyno 3rd gear where you'll hit rev limiter around 85-90mph. you hit speed limiter in 4th around 4000rpm (IIRC from the one time i attempted it). so if you think extending the rev limiter 500rpm in 3rd will get you to 108mph, you're wrong. and if you think that extending speed limiter 10-20mph will get you to 6500rpm in 4th you're wrong again. extend them both, and you're still going to be logging areas of your powerband that will be, at best, marginally useful/informative, only on a dyno, and rarely, if ever, hit in real life or factored in to legal racing.

Sorry bc3, the way it sounded, sounded like that to me, i take it back
from what everyone has told been telling me, the best way to extend the rev limiter, is with new cams and the 2.4 manifold, or in my case maybe the hahn portfueler manifold if i get it.

hahaha - you should search before you say i'm bashing you for helping. i have started 90% of all threads and polls related to 2.2 tuning on here, other car boards, and tuning provider's boards.

this may be a little off topic but would i need to get any kind of forged internals or anything else to keep my engine from getting screwed up when i go to get my turbo kit im looking at the garrett kit i just wanna know because i need to know how much money im gonna need to get the turbo kit and have it installed and if there is anything extra ill need then i need to factor those costs in.
