Drivetrain Solutions Formal Introduction
Drivetrain Solutions, former member/mod EXsoccer1921.
What do we have to offer?
At this point in time we will be dealing with Cobalt/Ion specific hub swaps and eventually carrying a full line of suspension and drivetrain parts for the platform for many other vehicle types. For the time being we will be sticking with the swap packages. Keep an eye out in the next few months for new products to be released.
What is a hub swap?
The term "hub swap" can be misleading. These packages are 100% bolt-on so there is no custom fitting required. If you can turn a wrench you can install our packages. Hub swaps allow for the ease of using factory spec wheel hubs while opening up a world of wheel choices and performance options, such as our drag pack.
How is this done?
We take oem spec wheel hubs and drill them to a bolt pattern chosen by the customer. Each hub will come with the oem bolt pattern along with the secondary pattern chosen by the customer with ARP wheel studs pressed in. Each brake rotor will also have dual patterns so if you desire to switch back to stock you can simply remove the wheel studs and press them back into the stock pattern and reinstall.
Why can't I just run adapters?
When adapters are used, they indirectly change the offset of your wheels. For example, you have a set of wheels on the car that are 18x8" with an offset of +40 and you want to run a different set of wheels that are also 18x8" +40 but have a different bolt pattern. Most companies will only offer adapters that are a minimum of 19mm(0.75") thick. So even though your new set of wheels say 18x8" +40, with those adapters it will actually be like running an 18x8" wheel at +21, which will push your wheels out to a generally undesired amount.
With a hub swap package you can run those wheels without having to worry about clearance, spend countless nights trying to calculate the perfect offset to buy your wheels at factoring in the adapters, or end up buying the wrong wheels after a miscalculation and be out potenially thousands of dollars. You can bolt your new wheels right up without any issue and dial in your stance exactly how you want it from there.
What do your kits consist of?
With each full kit you will receive:
1 pair of front hubs drilled to your desired pattern
1 pair of rear hubs drilled to your desired pattern
1 pair of front rotors drilled to your desired pattern
1 pair of rear rotors drilled to your desired pattern
ARP studs pre-pressed in to each hub.
Leaving you with a direct bolt on kit.
We use brand new parts in all our packages, including R1Concepts rotors. So you can buy with confidence knowing you aren't getting a junk yard special of pieced together parts that won't bolt up or will fall apart on the first test drive.
Example of a front rotor/hub/stud combo one of our kits. PS, this is a sneak peak at the 10" Drag Pack which will be available at a later date. Designed for the avid drag racer looking to go beyond the weekend test and tune.
We are currently working on getting a group-buy together by the end of the day. Stay tuned!
Thanks for the support!

Every R1 Concepts rotors comes standard with the following features:
- Meets or exceeds OEM standards
- Direct fitment gauranteed. No modifications are needed.
- Same vane count as OEMs
- Double disc grounded for better break-in and smoother/quieter stops
- Mill balanced to ensure long lasting durability
- Plated for rust protection
- One year warranty
E-Line Series vs. Premium Series
The E-Line Series brake rotors are great for those who want a medium performance upgrade over their factory brakes. Every E-Line rotor uses an iron grade of G3000 that provides great stability and braking power. Every rotor has a silver zinc coating to help protect against rust and maximize the lifespan of the rotor, saving you money from replacing your rotors prematurely.
The Premium series are for those who want a high performance upgrade over their factory brakes. These rotors use a high carbon material which results in a stronger rotor that can handle more demanding driving styles and conditions. The Premium Series have a 50/50 center split castings to make the rotor stronger. These rotors also use a black electro-coating process on the rotor hat that gives the rotor a two-tone color finish while protecting against rust.
Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors
These rotors combine the benefits of both drilled and slotted rotors without compromising the stability or performance of the rotor. Read below for full details.
Cross Drilled Rotors
Cross-Drilled rotors helps prevent warping of the rotor by releasing heat and cooling the rotor by up to an additional 105 degrees Fahrenheit when compared to non-driled rotors. In addition, all cross-drilled rotors are chamfered, meaning there is a slight slant at the opening of the hole. Our chamfering process reduces the chances of rotor cracks without compromising performance.
Diamond Slotted Rotors
With exclusive Diamond Slot technology, each brake rotor reduces debris and prevents brake pad glazing by capturing and removing debris as you brake and drive. Essentially refreshing the pads with every rotation. The end result is better braking, longer pad life, and reduction in unnecessary rotor wear. The diamond ends are also used as an indicator of when you need to replace your rotors, once the indicators are gone, it's time to replace your rotors. No more guessing or unnecessary trips to the mechanic.
OEM Blank Replacement Rotors
Blanks are not slotted or cross drilled and are great for those who need to replace their brakes but do not need the extra features that come with the drilled/slotted rotors. Blanks are ideal for people who do not drive aggressively, who do not live in environments that are normally hot, or environments that are normally wet. OEM rotors are the lowest priced rotors and will provide the same or even greater stopping power as your factory rotors.

The only draw back of the drag pack is I can almost guarantee you will lose ABS. Unless the Lsj guys would like to stick with stock sized axles instead of running Lnfs, it's always an option. And while running slicks I know Lsj axles will last much longer than they do for people who go out and play hop scotch the first 60', Lnf axles are still the superior choice over Lsj axles.
