a friend of mine and i custom built an air-ride setup for his sunbird. it originally used parker valves, viair compressors, and firestone bags. what we found is its a pain in the ass to daily drive. you will never 100% get rid of airleaks so you will need to keep adjusting the rideheight (we got it to the best of dropping 10psi in the front in about a 1/2 hour). cold weather isnt an issue for you, but for the record we had to heat the valves in the mornings in winter just to raise the car up, and draining the tank overnight and filling it in the morning so the air is warm helped keep the valves from freezing.
imho, if you drive the car daily, go with coil-overs. airride is too much of a pain, not to mention the extra attention you get from cops if you have to adjust the rideheight

I've been considering air ride because I prefer to ride at stock height, and I like being able to run my car through my sponsors car wash, but I want to be able to drop it when needed, at shows or meets...
Coilovers are nice, but I really don't want to spend 30 minutes going around my car with an adjustment wrench every time I go to a show...
I'd be interested in info on a reputable air ride package also.

Thats funny, I have zero leaks in my system. Have you tried teflon tape. I also run a 200psi pressure switch on my pump. I also live in MI and drive my car year round. No freezing problems at all. And if anything was gonna freeze I would say it would be the valves. Thats why semi drivers use airbags on there trucks, they don't freeze. They run an anti-freeze in the system to keep the valves from freezing. My manifold blocks are in my spare tire well. Also the pump is never running when I get in my car. even if I haven't driven it in a week.

The spring itself will not freeze. I know Firestone's rubber compounds are tested into the -40 range. The rubber bellow will warm up fairly quickly as the vehicle starts to move.
If the spring is losing 10 psi in 1/2 hour you have serious problems in the system somewhere. Either the spring itself is bad (manufacturing defect) or something in the system is not sealed. I've seen worse on the springs themselves, but that is usually due to a design flaw during the development process. Well designed parts will hold for a week or so with very little pressure drop.
We have several air ride vehicles at work (WRX, MDX, two Dodge 3500s, and a few other trucks) and I've hopped in and drove away without ANY issues. Just my $0.02.

I have seen a few cars running bags at auto-x events. I actually have some Canadian customers running our Slam Air shocks on the rear of there S-10's that drag race. Seems to be a upcoming thing. East to adjust for tire size, track conditions, and so on.
I will post some pics of my car on here in the next few days. I would also be interested in setting up a track date in MI, to let some of you guys take my car around some turns.

Hit me up if you guys have any questions. There are some new things for the Cobalt in the works.

Yes and no slowbalt. The kit on my car will hopefully be released Mid to end of September. Maybe if there are enough buyers on the site, I can get a good group buy thing going.

I've talked to a few locals that run bags in their trucks and a few cars, all real low rider stuff, and 2 of the guys have built their own kits piece by piece...
after talking with them about what I wanted, they all said I should use 3/8" all the way around.... any particular reason you went with 1/2"??
