Back End seems loose!!!!!

The other day I was driving around and I noticed that the back end of my car was really loose. I started messing around changing lanes alittle faster and it was like the back would like wobble over. It was not tight like it used to seem. I drive and just shake the steering wheel back and forth and it feels like when i turn one way the back goes the other. Its delayed.

I have Eibach Sportlines, DC front strut, and Progress Rear Sway. I just recently got new Goodyear Eagle F1s put on. I never noticed if it did it before and I can figure out what is wrong. I was on the highway and my car was wobbling at like 70mph. It wasnt stiff and safe feeling like usual. When i go around long turns like off ramps it feels like the back end of my car is going to swing out.

What is wrong. It never felt like this before at least I never noticed. MY guess would be the tires but how can tires do that. There supposed to be better. The air pressure is fine so its not that. Help please!!!!

bump, come on

Not trying to insult your intelligence or anything. What size tires did you buy and how many miles on them? Did have a four wheel alignment done after installing the springs? Is everything on the suspension tight?

nah its cool. The new tires are 225/40/18. I got an alignment when i first got the springs about two months ago. Im not sure if it was all 4 tho. never heard of all 4 being done.

Sometimes new tires (depending on the manufacturer) will cause a wiggle when new. This is due to the tread depth and tread design. I hear these complaints from drivers after new tires are installed.
A four wheel alignment should be performed after you put new suspension components in like struts, springs, and pivoting components. The rear toe is adjustable and in some cases so is the camber. May want to ask or keep an eye on the tread wear.
Just some thoughts. Not sure if you put GS-D3s on but Goodyear is notorious for soft sidewalls also.

well, on our cars there are no adjustments to be made in the rear of the car as far as an alignment is concerned....but if I were you I would double check all the bolts, especially on the sway bar. Make sure everything is tight and where it should be.

The car has a tendency to spin out. I was going downhill and coming up on a corner, and I hit the brakes and turned to go around the corner, and because the back end got loose and skid a bit the ABS shut the brakes off causing me to spin into a 720* spin. I almost went off a nearly 1,000 foot cliff but ended up crashing into a storm drain instead thank god. These cars blow when turning/swerving and braking.

possibly tread squirm on the tires, but your setup is leaning towards loose anyway with the aftermarket rear sway plus the higher spring rates. if you cant determine that anything has changed id suggest getting a larger front sway to balance it out or a stock rear sway.

if everything was fine before then it must b something that was done to it.

When they took the rear wheels off to change the tires did they mess the sway bar and loosen it somehow? maybe it was in the way...cause without the rear sway attached solid, the rear end will feel like its all over the place...that's how I felt with the stock setup anyway.

EVERY car blows when you brake while turning, HUGE . It causes massive uncontrolled weight transfer and causes you to lose control. Also, ABS doesn't shut the brakes off if it's functioning normally, it pulsates them so that you don't fully lock the wheels up - if they lock you pretty much lose any chance you had to control the car.

Was thinking the same thing. Take the rear sway off and see what you notice. A larger rear will make the back end want to step out ever so slightly.

Might need to have the tires rebalenced. My first car (eclipse) had tires with bad balence and the car would wiggle and sometimes the steering wheel would shake real bad. I dunno, just a thought.

out of balance tires would cause a vibration most likley felt in the seat if in the rear of the car, and in the steering wheel if in the front. However it wouldn't likley cause poor handling.....I'm still putting my money on the sway bar.....

Have you replaced your shocks/struts? If you still have the stock setup, I'd have bets ont he shocks being blown.

Hmm thats gay... from what i was told when i bought the sway was that the DC and front sway are a perfect combo. I already took it all off and put it back on and checked the lugs. Its all on correctly.

The new tires probably have about 300 miles on them. I just noticed it when i got the new tires but thats cos i was driving back and forth like a nascar. I get no vibrations so i know there balanced.

Do you really think the stock struts and shocks could already be out. Ive only had the springs since like April.

Try just going in you car and make fast lane changes going like 30 mph and see if the back end of the car is like delayed compared to the front. And then seems to go further over then the front did. Not like the tires lost traction just like the body of the car moved over w/o the wheels.

Not a fair comparison for me cause that's what I WANT my car to do.

You said you took everything off but put it back on? Try taking everything off that you can. Drive the car. If the symptoms are still there, then it's something on the car like a blown shock. If it's gone, then something you've added has caused it to change. Add each component one at a time and see how it feels. When the problem comes back, you know what caused it.

I absolutely think they're a BIG culprit. Your spring rates are much more aggressive than your shocks can handle. I'd definately look into a new set of Koni's.

Your sway bars should not be the cause of the problem. DC front with a Progress rear will still give you some understeer and not a twitchy rear end.
