Baer Brakes available

Hi fellow members,

I have really been on the trail trying to find a brake kit for our cars besides SSBC. I am sure SSBC is great but I would rather have something more commercial. So I contacted Wilwood and they seemed to shy away without more people being interested. So last night I emailed Baer Brakes through their email response system, here is what I got.

"Jason-
We do make systems to fit the Cobalt, the track system is the only system we offer. They run 845.00 for the front and 1015.00 for the rear. We have a variety of options including custom caliper coatings and 2 piece rotor options, we also offer polishing.

I just emailed Johnny asking for part numbers and a possible dealer that we could contact about ordering, are any of our supporting vendors Baer dealers?

<----- TRACK
Baer ClawŽ TRACK brake systems are one of Baer's most popular systems. Employing 2-piston aluminum calipers and 1-piece 13" cross-drilled, slotted and zinc-washed performance rotors, they fill out 17" wheel packages and supercharge braking performance. May fit some 16" wheels. Check wheel fitment with Baer fit check templates.
REAR SYSTEM (1-piece 13” dia./PBR 1-piston) Includes park mechanism.----->

I have Baer's on my Mustang and they are an awesome system. Those prices mentioned are pretty good as well.

Only thing that scares me about these big brake kits is all the additional unsprung weight. If a company makes a system actually lighter then stock then I'll lean towards that one for sure.

If you notice the rear resembles a Bear claw gripping the Rotor

Then perhaps you shouldn't be modifying your brake system yet. SSBC has been in buisness for 30 years now. Simple research can go quite a long way before deciding to spend $1500+, but anyway if you want LESS unsprung weight go with the SSBC kit anyway, smaller physical caliper size and 12x1 inch rotors all the way around with 2 piston front and single piston rear......but if it makes you more happy to buy something because you know the name then go for it. Either product is high quality.
