bent rear axle beam
bent rear axle beam
I have tried verifying which parts would interchange on here but cant find anything for certain for my situation. I have an 06 cobalt SS. 4 wheel disc brakes. My rear axle beam is bent from sliding into a curb playing in the snow... oops!
I have located an axle beam from an 08 SS and need to know if it will bolt in. from what i am gathering from this site is that it would bolt in but has larger stabalizer? which would be fine with me.
ANY help i could get would be great. This is the only one i can find within 100 miles that isn't going to cost me over $500.
Thanks in advance!!

Ya, I believe the 08+ (LNF/TC) rear beam stabilizer bar is 24mm and the LSJ is 22mm ...
From what I've gathered reading on the forums it should be a direct swap, just stay away from and base (2.2/LS) beams since your calipers would not be able to bolt up to it.
Just to give you a heads up on a price so you don't get ripped off you shouldn't be looking to spend more than $250. I got my rear axle beam for a future 5 lug swap from a 2008 LNF for around that much and it came with the hard brake lines, parking brake cables, rotors, calipers, and one shock.
Since you're doing the swap have you considered replacing the rear axle beam bushing since it's accessible while off the car?

Thanks for the info. i was quoted $150 so a decent deal. thanks for the heads up on the bushings too. would have realized i needed to after igot it apart and then have to hope i could get them the same day. now i just have to find the time to get to the junkyard to get it. stupid time zone difference makes it difficult to get there before they close up shop for the day.
thanks again!
thanks again!
