Big Brake Kit New Product Interest

Who would be intersted in a big brake kit for the front and rear SS Cobalt?

What we are thinking of is offering a 2 piece rotor/hat assembly, and manufacturing a "bracket" to re locate the OEM caliper "outward" So we would offer a larger diameter rotor assembly, with the OEM caliper relocated.

Price would be between a replacement set of rotors, and the full all out, SSBC or Baer Brake kit...

Power Slot and other manufatures offer this for some other models, like the Mitsubishi Eclipse. We would be the manufacture and do the design, testing, and manufacturing....

What are your thoughts?

We are thinking AROUND $400-500 per axle for the rotor, hat, calaiper re location bracket, hardware, etc... With this setup you would still use any aftermarket brake pad you would like (HAWK, EBC, ETC)

We will also design them to work 100% with the stock OEM rims.

so the caliper would still grab the same amount of brake rotor?

so basically about a grand for the whole front setup, sounds like a sweet deal to me, will it work with the abs?

true, but with the larger radius rotor it will take less pressure to do the same amount of braking.

I would be interested down the road. MAKE SURE though that it will fit with a 16" steelie rim so those of us who have to put winter tires on will NOT have any clearance issues.

OMG!!!! PLEASE do this. I go to shows and see these other cars with these HUGE cross drilled slotted rotors and calipers. I won't it so much.

PS what about your guys 4-2-1 headers? :P

But yeah...this:

cross drilled AND slotted with color choices for calipers and HUGE calipers....mmm.

Make them look good with larger wheels and better than the SS/TC brakes.

Yes, most "big brake kits" do have the same amount of surface, what they do is offer a further out distance of "grabbing" acting as a larger "lever arm" kinda like using a wrench, using a 6" vs a 12" the 12" you can get much more force on the nut you are torqing... I hope this makes sence...

We are actually looking at Brembo rotors (slotted and drilled), and machining our own "hats" and "brackets" for the kit...

So will this be $1000 for the front and $1000 for the back. You said the Calipers would be from Baer?

What about us lowly SS/NAs.

I run 18s in the summer but in the winter my stockers go back on.

Plus would we have to get terra-bad drilled and slotted or could we get 'blanks' because we like to stop fast?

MMMmmmm brake fade go

No, it would be around $1000 for the front and rear. The calipers are the OEM ones just relocated "outward"

We could do this same upgrade for the 4 lug, NA 2.2L setups also (fronts only) as the rears are drums.

Would said big brake kit fit with the SS/NAs 17s.

Would we have a choice in brake rotors?

I guess I can be confusing when being goofy.

Wouldn't mess with the ABS at all?

Plus how much heavier you think they would be over stock?

I just wish someone would produce a true four piston Brembo upgrade for the front AND rear. I got all happy when I found out GM was offering Brembos on the '08 TC only to find out they are only on the front... Kinda stupid in my opinion to got half way... The CA Z06 upgrade is cool but WTF w/no E-brake? I am probably going to break down and buy the Baer kits but I would much rather have Brembos...

80% of your braking is done with the fronts and a big torque brake in the rear means easier rear lock up.

Rear lock up under heavy braking is the reason why ABS exists on cars...because it sucks.

The problem with big cool looking brakes is you are sacrificing safety if they are not set up properly.

That is why God invented proportioning valves

I found a cool solution to the CA Z06 brake kit problem...
